Enhancement in heat transfer by generating turbulence in the fluid stream inside the heat exchanger tube has become an innovative area of research for the researchers. Hence, many techniques have been investigated and adopted on enhancement of heat transfer rate to reduce the size and cost of the heat exchangers. In the present study the effect of solid hollow circular disk (SHCD) turbulators on heat transfer, friction factor and thermal performance factor of the heat exchanger is evaluated through experimentation. The different parameters used for the experimentation include fixed thickness ratio (t/D) of SHCD, i.e. 0.0075, diameter ratios (d/D = 0.6, 0.7 and 0. 8) and pitch ratios (l/D = 1, 2, 3 and 4). The experiments are conducted in the range of Reynolds number from 6500 to 23,000. The test setup comprises of the test section (1.4 m long) with a hydraulic diameter (D) of 68 mm. Constant heat flux is provided in the test section with the help of a variable voltage transformer and coiled wire heater. On the basis of experimental investigation, there is around 4.45 times enhancement in heat transfer in case of PR = 1 and DR = 0.6, and around 1.4 times enhancement in thermal performance factor for PR = 1 and DR = 0.8 when compared to smooth tube heat exchangers. © 2016 Elsevier Ltd. In addition to coverage it is important for a sensor network to maintain connectivity. Connectivity can be defined as the ability of the sensor nodes to reach the data sink. If there is no available route from a sensor node to the data sink then the data collected by that node cannot be processed. Each node has a communication range which defines the area in which another node can be located in order to receive data. In this research, we extend an energy-efficient clustering algorithm with obstacle consideration in wireless sensor networks to achieve the required features of prolonged network lifetime and coverage-preservation. Obstacle is the major issue in wireless sensing networks as it hinders the communication. This is to be achieved by figuring clusters from the randomly scattered sensor nodes in the sensing field and sensibly selecting the cluster-heads, representing respective clusters, temporary cluster head and their cluster-members while ensuring the coverage. The simulation results show the better optimization results, improved network coverage and prolong network lifetime as compared to ECSSCOM without obstacles. © 2015 IEEE.

Face recognition technique is one of the most fascinating territories of computer vision. The aspiration of this manuscript is to compare an image with other several images which has been cached in a database and can identify it. The methodology of this manuscript is to calculate the Eigen faces and then identify a person from these generated Eigen faces. This face detection system recognizes a face in gray scales, while the images which are stashed in the database are in RGB. To identify those images one should convert it into gray scale images. Furthermore to obtain the edges of face, gray scale images converted into binary images. Eigen faces has been generated by using these edges. For identification one can compare an image with calculated Eigen faces and can recognize the individual face. © 2015 IEEE.

This paper report describes a novel and efficient procedure for circular polarized triangular shape microstrip patch antenna for the L-band. Mathematical modeling provided for select the dimension of triangular slot with different dielectric substrates such as RT Duroid 5880, Fused Quartz, Alumina and Epsilam. For performance analysis of an antenna, material properties play an important role. Different designs proposed in this work with validation of scattering parameter measurements, and it is obtained that fused quartz substrate gives the best performance when used in frequency range of the mobile communication. The design strategy is optimized for adaptive resonance frequency range of 1 GHz to 3 GHz and thickness of 1.59 mm. The Simulations results and analysis of the radiation pattern, Directivity of an antenna, Gain of an antenna and electric far field is obtained by using advanced design system (ADS). © 2015 IEEE.

This paper report proposes a wireless approach for monitoring a remote area which has a large area and therefore becomes difficult to be managed by an individual due to lack of any information. Using GSM module, it is a very effective and accurate techniques to transmit useful information. That information contains the parameters such as temperature and humidity of the medium. For sensing the temperature a thermistor has been used, which is a low cost device having temperature range -110°F to 500°F. This is one of the most sensitive sensors and exhibits a large range of change in the temperature. HR202, is an organic macromolecule material, which is used for sensing humidity of the medium. A cell phone is needed at the receiver's end which is used to get the value of the parameters. For controlling the system a microcontroller has been used with which every sensor and GSM module has been connected. Whenever, in the real time, the value of a parameter changes, a message is automatically sent to the predefined numbers containing the value of the parameters. One can also receive the details of parameters such as temperature and humidity by just giving a call to the GSM in which a SIM card has been inserted. The ability to have someone monitor the parameters around the clock is the best thing that this system can do. This technology focuses on the delivery of a safe, effective, and efficient, agriculture based remote monitoring system. © 2014 IEEE.

This article discusses in detail the purpose, designing and functioning of a tracking system. This tracking system could be brought to use to track pets/children/elderly/disabled/vehicles etc. The tracking system's range can be specified depending on the usage. If the carrier of the tracking system intentionally or unintentionally tries to cross a particular predetermined area/ region then an SMS is sent to a predefined phone number disclosing the coordinates of the location. The working of the system is based on an existing GSM network and GPS satellites. This tracking system not only transmits the longitude and latitude coordinates to the cell phone but also gives a slight shock to the carrier and sets off an alarm indicating the crossing of the periphery. © 2014 IEEE.
