The radionuclide content in coal from different deposits and ash-slag wastes from coal-burning thermal power plants (TPP) as well as in atmospheric emissions together with fly ash from TPP is analyzed. The problems of using coal with high content of naturally occurring radionuclides and methods for solving them at the Urtuiskii lignite deposit in Transbaikalia are illuminated. Data on the content of naturally occurring radionuclides in Transbaikalian coal and the weighted mean content of uranium and thorium in Siberian region coal are presented. Information on the radiation conditions near coal-burning TPP, the effect on the environment and public health is presented. © 2013 Springer Science+Business Media New York.

Mining Faculty of Transbaikalia State University plays a key role in solving of specialists problem in mineral raw material complex of Transbaikal Territory. Mining faculty is one of leading structural subdivisions of Transbaikalia State University, oriented on the training of specialists for mining and fuel-energetic branches of economics of Transbaikal Territory. During the whole period of existence of Priargunsky Industrial Mining and Chemical Union, the enterprise and Transbaikalia State University have been connected by close scientific and industrial relations. Due to the enterprise, the powerful material base for preparation of mining engineers was created in the university. This base includes modern-equipped laboratories of mine openings and shattering processes, laboratory rocks physics etc. As the heads of practical training, the staff of Priargunsky Industrial Mining and Chemical Union makes a significant contribution to the specialists training, by participation in the work of state certifying commissions and research councils. Dynamic development and training of qualified mining engineers for the leading enterprise in Transbaikal Territory - Priargunsky Industrial Mining and Chemical Union - is possible to be carried out due to the cumulated pedagogical experience, scientific potential, existing material and technical base, constantly improved teaching and guiding, as well as integration of joint cooperation of university and enterprise.

It has been found that accelerated electrons have great influence on strength properties of zeolite-containing rocks, and on their post-grinding grain-size composition and the degree of unlocking, which intensifies further processing. The authors illustrate potentiality of reducing the content of ferruginous admixture in zeolite products: from 3.14 to 0.36% for zeolite-containing rocks from Shivyrtuiskoe deposit and from 11.2 to 0.12% for chabasite-containing basaltic andesite from Talan-Gozagorskoe deposit. © 2013 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.

This article gives the information about mineral raw materials base of Streltsovskaya group of deposits. There is proposed the technology of processing of low-powerful poor balance and off balance uranium ores by combined method, including underground mining of mineral resources and X ray radiometric ore sorting in underground conditions with separation of waste rocks, rich and poor ores. Rich ore is supplied to the surface with following delivery to hydrometallurgical processing stage. Poor ore is being leached in the structures, which are formed during the block reserves mining. Rock is also situated in the waste area as a stowing material. Usage of the proposed technology makes it possible to do the following operations: - increasing of operation efficiency of enterprise due to increasing of total output and decreasing of capital and exploitation costs for extraction and processing; - increasing of reserves provision level; - improvement of ecological situation of region by decreasing of dump constructions.
