The prestressed anchorage has been a common engineering technology for landslide prevention and mitigation along the highway in Tibet. Due to special geological and geomorphical environment and climate condition, the durability problem is prone to occur in prestressed anchorage. Based on the investigation of the prestressed anchorage engineering project applied to landslide along the highway in Tibet, the authors have classified the durability problems into three sorts, i.e., (1)anchor seal failure; (2)frame beam cavitation destruction; (3)anchor cable failure because of partial deformation of the sliding slope. On the basis of ananalysis of the key factors that impact the duration of anchorage structure, three remediation and reinforcement technologies have been put forward, i.e., the remediation and reinforcement technology applied in the seal of anchorage structure failure and anchor head damage, the remediation and reinforcement technology applied in the prestressed anchorage cable and frame beam, and the technology applied in the supplement of prestress to improve the anti-sliding force of anchorage structure.

The sand-sliding slope, which belongs to one of special types of debris flow, has been a common geohazard along the Sichuan-Tibet Highway. On the river bank of Palongzangbu along the Sichuan-Tibet Highway, the sand-sliding slope is characterized by wide distribution and serious damage. Based on several years' research and engineering practice, the authors classified the prevention and control measures for the sand-sliding slope into five sorts, i.e., avoidance and mucking, sand source control, sand consolidation, sand retaining and sand draining. To achieve the better control effect, we should select some prevention and control measures in a well-targeted manner and take into account the basic features and developmental stage of the sand-sliding slope and environmental conditions encountered by the Sichuan-Tibet Highway.
