The CloseWEEE project integrates three interlinked research and innovation areas for an improved, resource-efficient recycling of polymer materials and critical raw materials from electrical and electronics equipment (EEE): (1) Efficient and effective disassembly of EEE is key for high quality material fractions, separation of materials but also for reuse of components and parts. An information system for dismantlers will be developed, accessing webbased dismantling instructions, to ease the dismantling process, reduce destruction of reusable parts and components and to allow for a deeper dismantling level for better economics of the Recycling process. (2) Developing resource-efficient and innovative solutions for closing the loop of post-consumer high-grade plastics from WEEE, for new EEE through advanced recovery of valuable plastic streams which do not have a recycling system yet, and subsequent replacement of halogenated flame retardants by halogen-free flame retardants in new EEE. (3) Improved recycling of Lithium-ion batteries through increasing the recovery rates of cobalt and researching a recovery technology for the critical raw material graphite from those batteries. These technology innovations in the various stages of the EEE recycling value chain are complemented by research on reusing the recovered polymer fractions in new EEE, defining product design measures in favour of an optimised recycling eco-system, embedding related product design criteria in EU policy measures and global green procurement activities. These activities will support effectively the objectives of the European Innovation Partnership on Raw Materials.

The disclosed invention relates to smart glasses (4). The smart glasses comprise a near eye display subsystem (12, 21) for creating a see-through image for a user wearing the smart glasses (4). One or more image elements are made visible in the see-through image, so that the user wearing the smart glasses (4) experiences an image which comprises one or more virtual elements, which are made visible in the see-through image, and real objects in the background. A sensing subsystem (13, 14) of the smart glasses (4) determines the area occupied by a display screen in the background scene. The one or more image elements are displayed in the see-through image at a predetermined location with respect to the determined occupied area. Embodiments of the smart glasses (4) are arranged to display a virtual overlay over the image displayed on the screen in the background, display a window in the background with a defined position with respect to the screen or create the experience of an ambient glow around the screen in the background.

The invention relates to a method and apparatus to restore an image from its degraded form. The invention further relates to an offline training process and online image restoring process used in this method and apparatus. In the offline stage a data base with pairs of training image and corresponding degraded training image is used to generate feature vectors representing various local characteristics of pixels. The feature vectors are clustered so as to determine a dictionary of pixel classes having representative feature vectors. Later, for each pixel class sets of coefficients of restoring filters are optimized using the training images in the data base. In the image restoring process feature vectors for a plurality of pixels of the degraded image are determined (S11). For each of the degraded pixels a near matching pixel class is determined (S12), which having a representative feature vector which is close to the feature vector of the corresponding degraded pixel. The degraded pixels are filtered with a restoring filter which set with filter coefficients belonging to the near matching pixel class (S13), so as to restore the degraded image. The method and apparatus are applicable in many applications e.g. camera, HD/UHD TV, document scanning systems etc. to restore the sharpness of an image.

The invention relates to a method of enabling user interaction. The method comprises the steps of displaying an at least partly transparent three-dimensional object (41) on a transparent display means of a wearable device and using a camera of the wearable device to detect a physical object (43) in an area which corresponds to the at least partly transparent three-dimensional object (41) when viewed through the transparent display means. The invention further comprises the steps of displaying an indication (45) on the transparent display means when the object (43) is located in the area and enabling user interaction with the display device by sending data representing at least one of a three-dimensional position and a change in three-dimensional position of the object (43) in the area to the display device. The invention also relates to an electronic device for enabling user interaction.

The device (1) for receiving satellite channels of the invention comprises a receiver (3) for tuning to a satellite channel, an interface (5) for exchanging data with a further device (21) and a processor (7). The processor (7) uses the receiver (3) to scan transponders of at least one satellite for first channels with the help of transponder information and inserts the first channels in a default channel list. The processor (7) further uses the receiver (3) to scan transponders of the at least one satellite for second channels without the help of transponder information and inserts the second channels in a second channel list and not in the default channel list. The processor (7) uses the interface (5) to send the second channel list to the further device (21) and to receive a third channel list from the further device (21). The third channel list comprises at least one channel included in the second channel list. The processor (7) adds at least one channel included in the third channel list to the default channel list.

The application relates to a method and apparatus for time shifting audio and or video programs. In a live mode program information is directly transferred to a rendering device (11). In the time shift mode the program information is transferred to the rendering device (11) via a time shift buffer (21), whereby the program information is stored in a time shift buffer (21) and read a time shift later than it is stored. Trick play modes such as Fast Forward and Rewind can be performed. In case that video information representing a program part with trick play restriction is read from the time shift buffer (21) the Fast Forward mode is disabled. The Rewind mode is disabled in case this would lead to read access to a program part which has not yet been rendered and which follows a trick play restricted part program part which also has not yet been rendered.

An electronic device (1;100) comprises circuitry (7;101) and a part (5;102) with a deterioration which is dependent on a temperature behaviour of the part in a preceding period means. The device (1;100) further comprises means for deriving (12;103) an estimate of a thermal accumulated deterioration of the part (5;102) caused by the temperature behaviour in the preceding period. The device (1;100) is controlled in dependence on the estimate of the thermal accumulated deterioration, so as to cause that said part deteriorate in a defined manner. The invention is in particular suitable for thin LCD displays (2) in which the backlight is generated by LEDs (5). Due to the thin dimensions the temperature of the LEDs (5) and the solder joint with which the LEDs (5) are fixed to a circuit board in the backlight unit (3,4) can reach high levels which can cause substantial deterioration of the LEDS (5) and solder joints. In case the accumulated deterioration exceeds a reference level (Ref) belonging to the total time (Ttot) that the display device (1) is already in operation, then the average power to the LEDs (5) in the backlight units (3,4) is reduced. So it is achieved that the thermal accumulated damages is kept below the values belonging to the total operation time. In this way it is prevented that the lifespan of the display device (1) is reached too early.
