According to the Czech Beer and Malt Association statistics, the Czechs have been reducing their beer consumption. Last year, each Czech citizen drank on average 134 litres of beer, which puts the Czechs on the first place with the Irish being second. Yet in 1995 beer consumption reached 160 litres. Average weekly half-litre portions consumed by males dropped from 9.5 in 2007 to 7.7 in 2010. For women this figure is stable and on average it is 2 half-litre portions per week. At the same time, there is a drop in beer-drinking frequency and the number of beer consumers in the Czech population. Reasons are commented by Jan Veseý, executive director of the Czech Beer and Malt Association, rather simply: "Trend in the drop of beer consumption is a logical consequence of several phenomena. Firstly, long-term changes in population lifestyle, pressure from employers to use working hours in more efficient manner and, last but not least, the fact that great beer-lover generation is slowly fading." Based on his long-term involvement in the brewery industry and continuous research in this field, the author of the article has divided the reasons for beer consumption drop into two factors, inner and outer. The most important outer factors can be seen in an increase of excise tax on beer, military service being not obligatory anymore, alcohol checks of workers in the workplace, especially professional drivers, a lower number of tourists, a partial decline in beer drinking in the young generation, a low number of regular beer drinkers in towns and the country, an increased margin for tap beer in restaurants and pubs and the use of taps with a compensator as well. Among the most important inner factors are pricing policy of breweries, efforts of breweries owners to maximize their profits, marketing concentrated mainly on males visiting pubs regularly, individual beer imports from neighbouring countries although without any statistical facts, beer quality unification, i.e., "Euro-beer" production. Whereas the production of large breweries has been decreasing, the production of microbreweries has been growing, often offering accommodation and catering services as well.

In this work, novel generalized Newtonian law (in which viscosity is given by the specific function of three principal invariants of the deformation rate tensor and its absolute value) has been proposed and tested. It has been found that the proposed model provides correct behavior in steady shear and uniaxial/planar/equibiaxial extensional viscosities for polymer melts.

The objective of this paper is to analyze free software for the design, analysis, modelling, and simulation of an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV). Free software is the best choice when the reduction of production costs is necessary; nevertheless, the quality of free software may vary. This paper probably does not include all of the free software, but tries to describe or mention at least the most interesting programs. The first part of this paper summarizes the essential knowledge about UAVs, including the fundamentals of flight mechanics and aerodynamics, and the structure of a UAV system. The second section generally explains the modelling and simulation of a UAV. In the main section, more than 50 free programs for the design, analysis, modelling, and simulation of a UAV are described. Although the selection of the free software has been focused on small subsonic UAVs, the software can also be used for other categories of aircraft in some cases; e.g. for MAVs and large gliders. The applications with an historical importance are also included. Finally, the results of the analysis are evaluated and discussed—a block diagram of the free software is presented, possible connections between the programs are outlined, and future improvements of the free software are suggested. © 2015 CIMNE, Barcelona, Spain

Seaweeds demonstrate original and interesting nutritional characteristics. Protein concentration ranges from 5% to 47% of dry basic. Its value depends particularly on species and the environmental conditions. Seaweed protein is a source of all amino acids, especially glycine, alanine, arginine, proline, glutamic, and aspartic acids. In algae, essential amino acids (EAAs) represent almost a half of total amino acids and their protein profile is close to the profile of egg protein. In case of non-EAAs, all three groups (green, brown, and red seaweeds) contain the similar amount. Red seaweed seems to be a good source of protein because its value reaches 47%. The issue of protein malnutrition supports the trend to find a new and cheap alternative source of protein. Algae could play an important role in the above-mentioned challenge because of relatively high content of nitrogen compounds. Algae may be used in the industry as a source of ingredients with high nutritional quality. © 2011 Elsevier Inc.

Seaweeds are a good source of some water- (B 1, B 2, B 12, C) and fat-soluble (β-carotene with vitamin A activity, vitamin E) vitamins. To ensure that the adequate intake of all vitamins is received in the diet, people (especially people on special diet, strict vegetarians, and vegans) can consume foods enriched with vitamins, for example, in the form of functional foods with vitamins as nutraceuticals, extracted from natural sources such as seaweeds. Seaweed vitamins are important not only due to their biochemical functions and antioxidant activity but also due to other health benefits such as decreasing of blood pressure (vitamin C), prevention of cardiovascular diseases (β-carotene), or reducing the risk of cancer (vitamins E and C, carotenoids). © 2011 Elsevier Inc.

Edible flowers contribute to the increase of aesthetic appearance of food, they are used during the cooking preparation, but more often they are mentioned in connection with biologically active substances. This review summarizes current knowledge about the usage of edible flowers of ornamental plants for human nutrition. The work describes the quality, sources, consumption, nutritional and sensory importance of edible flowers of ornamental plants. The significance of edible flowers of ornamental plants is also evaluated from the aspect of potential health effect. It concerns mainly the influence of colorfulness, odorous and flavor components in relation to antioxidant activity, scavenging activity of reactive oxygen radicals and against cancer. We can include edible flowers of ornamental plants in the new source of nutraceuticals due to nutritional and chemoprotective value. © 2011 Elsevier Ltd.

This paper deals with calculation of all stabilizing Proportional-Integral (PI) and Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) controllers. The stability region, representing the area of possible placement of the controller parameters which guarantee feedback stabilization of a controlled plant, is obtained via plotting the stability boundary locus in the P-I plane or the P-I-D space by means of the Tan's method or the Kronecker summation method. These approaches are subsequently extended in order to compute robustly stabilizing PI controllers for interval plants. Moreover, the stabilization techniques are combined with the desired model method which is used for final controller design. The applicability of the methods is demonstrated on three control examples.

In this work, a simple phenomenological generalized Newtonian law model has been proposed and tested for different polymer melts by using rheological data taken from the open literature. Viscosity is given as a specific function of three principal invariants of the deformation rate tensor, D, and its absolute value defined as √D{dot operator}D. It has been found that the model predictions are in very good agreement with the strain rate dependent steady shear and uniaxial extensional viscosities for linear and branched polyolefines. The model behaves correctly in description of steady planar and equibiaxial extensional viscosities and allows their independent strain hardening level control with respect to uniaxial extensional viscosity. © 2010 Elsevier B.V.

The paper presents possibility of model design of time series of heat demand course. The course of heat demand and heat consumption can be demonstrated by means of heat demand diagrams. The most important one is the Daily Diagram of Heat Supply (DDHS) which demonstrates the course of requisite heat output during the day. These diagrams are of essential importance for technical and economic considerations. Therefore forecast of the diagrams course is significant for short-term and long-term planning of heat production. The aim of paper is to give some background about analysis of time series of heat demand and identification of forecast model using Time series package which is integrated with the Wolfram Mathematica. The paper illustrates using this package for forecast model identification of heat demand in specific locality. This analysis is utilized for building up a prediction model of the DDHS.

This contribution aims a revision and extension of the ring of retarded quasipolynomial meromorphic functions (RMS) for description and control of time-delay systems (TDS). The original definition has some significant drawbacks - especially, it does not constitute a ring. Our new definition extends the usability to neutral TDS and to those with distributed delays. As first, basic algebraic notions useful for this paper are introduced. A concise overview of algebraic methods for TDS follows. The original and the revised definitions of the ring together with some its properties finish the contribution. There are many illustrative examples that explain introduced terms and findings throughout the paper.
