In order to solve a series problems of quenching oil cleaning, as high oil content of alkali liquid and difficult to recovery, to use hot alkaline water and air flotation separation technology were proposed, and the parameters were determined through the trial. The results show that under the condition of 8% concentration alkali, 70℃ with 5 m/s spray rate and 20 min air flotation separation time, the cleaning effect of hardened workpiece is better, recovery rate of quenching oil is high and wastewater exhaustion can be reduced. Pit carburizing furnace retort was simulated and optimizated by FEM. The results show that the simulated maximum stress and distortion of the furnace retort is 58.3 MPa and 1.89 × 10-1 mm respectively before optimization which is not meet the requirements of engineering application. After optimization that the thickness of furnace retort is gradually reduced from top to bottom and the bottom is taper nosing, the simulated maximum stress and distortion of the furnace retort is 34.5 MPa and 1.28 × 10-1 mm respectively, and the weight of furnace retort is reduced by 1200 kg which save the cost and meet the requirement of engineering application.
