The polyvinylidene fluoride (PVDF) hollow fiber membrane was prepared for membrane distillation through thermally induced phase separation (TIPS) using glyceryl triacetate (GTA) and dibutyl sebacate (DBS) as the mixed diluents. The bicontinuous structure of membrane pore was obtained in the case: PVDF/GTA/DBS is 25wt.%:22.5wt.%:62.5wt.%, and the coagulation bath is the water of 20°C. The membrane porosity and mechanical strength are 0.64 and 2.7MPa, respectively. The PVDF membrane was characterized using the measurement of the liquid entry pressure (LEPw), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), mean pore, porosity and mechanical strength. The prepared PVDF membrane was tested in an AGMD process for desalination with 7.0wt.% NaCl solution as the feed. The permeate water flux (JD) and gained output ratio (GOR) simultaneously reach to 5.5kg/m2h and 6.2. The prepared PVDF membrane can be operated continuously for 240h without any significant change to JD and GOR, indicating that the prepared PVDF hollow fiber membrane by TIPS method may be of great potential to be utilized in AGMD process for desalination. © 2015 Elsevier B.V. A new kind of dust coagulation agent for application in open-pit iron ore mine blasting was prepared, which composed of surfactant factor, moisture factor, and coagulation factor. The optimum formula of the dust coagulation agent was obtained according to the results of the single-factor tests and the orthogonal tests. The reagents of span-80, Na2SiO3 and soluble starch were chosen as the surfactant factor, moisture factor, and coagulation factor, with the concentration of 0.05%, 20%, and 0.20%, respectively. The highest dust suppression efficiency of the agent was 97.50%. The results show that the raw material of the dust coagulation agent has wide resource, low cost and outstanding dust suppression effect. It has broad application prospects in blasting dust suppression in the open-pit iron ore mine. © 2016 Taylor & Francis Group, London. Source

CoFe2-xLaxO4 (x=0, 0.05, 0.10, 0.15) ferrites were prepared by sol-gel self-propagating method. The effect of La3+ content on the self-propagating characteristic of the dried gels, the crystallization behavior and infrared radiation properties of the sintered samples were investigated by TG/DSC, FT-IR, SEM, XRD and infrared emissivity measurement. The results show that the infrared radiation properties of CoFe2-xLaxO4 can be expressed by the crystallization behavior and the lattice strain. The solid solution with single phase is formed after sintering at 600℃ when the La3+ (x) content of 02-xLaxO4 ferrites. The highest infrared emissivity in 8-14 μm wavebands of 0.94±0.01 is reached from CoFe1.90La0.10O4 with the treatment of sintering at 600℃, which was 4.44% higher than that of CoFe2O4. ©, 2015, Rengong Jingti Xuebao/Journal of Synthetic Crystals. A new air gap membrane distillation module based on hollow fiber with energy recovery was developed for desalination using 70 g·L-1 NaCl solution as the feed. The effects of membrane module length and membrane pore size were investigated. For measuring directly the effects of operating conditions, membrane module properties, and temperature and concentration polarization on the mass transfer coefficient, the total mass transfer coefficient was introduced. The effects of membrane pore size, feeding temperature and feeding flow rate were studied. The results showed that the total mass transfer coefficient increased with the increase of membrane pore size and feeding temperature. The membrane flux and gained-out put ratio were increased effectively with increasing membrane pore size. Since increasing membrane module length would reduce the membrane flux while enhance the gained-out put ratio, the membrane flux and gained-out put ratio should be considered comprehensively for selection of the appropriate membrane module length in the application process. © All right reserved.
