CSM method is the latest cement soil deep mixing technology. Now, CSM is widely used in a number of areas such as excavation engineering, seepage control engineering, foundation engineering, etc. in foreign countries. To improve the level of the technology and fill in the blanks in China, in-depth discussions and researches are needed. Through the introduction of the Cutter Soil Mixing (CSM)method overview and process, combined with projects at home and abroad, we have summarized the characteristics and advantages of the CSM method, and we hope these data can provide the useful reference for the futher research work. The idea of semicircle inner-bracing during the demolition process of excavations in soft soil is introduced. Taking a deep excavation in Tianjin for an example, design and calculation based on this idea are performed. The feasibility of this idea is confirmed through the monitoring data and the calculated results. Actually, the proposed method can ensure the construction of the excavation, save project time, and achieve good project efficiency. It may provide a reference for similar projects. Source
