Two different zinc oxide/reduced graphene oxide (ZnO/RGO) nanocomposites with flower-like and rod-like ZnO particles were facilely controllably synthesized from ammonia, using glucose and sodium citrate as the green reducing agent, respectively, which combined the growth of ZnO particles and the reduction of GO in the one-step hydrothermal process. The results suggest that identical amine source can result in the assembly of different ZnO morphologies, which are decorated on the surfaces and the interlayers of RGO sheets and act as spacers to keep the neighboring sheets separate. Electrochemical tests show that the two composites have different capacitive behavior. Fluorescence quenching properties of the composites were also investigated. © 2013 Elsevier B.V.

Flower-like ZnO decorated reduced graphene oxide composites have been controllably synthesized, using sodium citrate as the green reducing agent by a hydrothermal method, which combines the formation of the flower-like ZnO particles and the reduction of graphite oxide in one single step. The as-synthesized composites were characterized by scanning electron microscope and X-ray powder diffraction, which indicate that the ZnO particles are decorated on the surfaces and on the interlayers of the reduced graphene oxide sheets, and act as spacers to prevent the aggregation of the sheets. The electrochemical tests show the composites to have good capacitive behavior, which predicts their potential application in energy storage. © 2013 Elsevier Ltd and Techna Group S.r.l. Some G-quadruplex - hemin complexes are DNAzyme peroxidases that efficiently catalyze H2O2-mediated reactions, such as the oxidation of ABTS (2,2′-azinobis(3-ethylbenzothiozoline)-6-sulfonic acid) by H2O2. Since Ag+ chelates guanine bases at the binding sites are involved in G-quadruplex formation, the presence of Ag+ may disrupt these structures and inhibit the peroxidase activity of G-quadruplex - hemin DNAzymes. On the basis of this principle, a highly sensitive and selective Ag+-detection method was developed. The method allows simple detection of aqueous Ag+ with a detection limit of 64 nM and a linear range of 50-3000 nM. Cysteine (Cys) is a strong Ag +-binder and competes with quadruplex-forming G-rich oligonucleotides for Ag+-binding, promoting the reformation of Gquadruplexes and increasing their peroxidase activity. Therefore, the Ag+-sensing system was also developed as a Cys-sensing system. This "turn-on" process allowed the detection of Cys at concentrations as low as 50 nM using a simple colorimetric technique. The Cyssensing system could also be used for the detection of reduced glutathione (GSH). Neither the Ag+-Sensing nor the Cys-sensing systems required labeled oligonucleotides. In addition, both gave large changes in absorbance signal that could be observed by the naked eye. Thus, a simple visual method for Ag+- or Cysdetection was developed. © 2010 American Chemical Society.

Microwave radiation technology was used to treat paper waste water. Using FeSO 4-loaded slag as the wave-absorbing and oxidation-catalyzing carrier, microwave radiation could effectively decompose organic pollutant in paper waste water. The activity of slag treated by microwave was better than that by normal furnace. The optimal conditions were determined by orthogonal experiment: the consumption of supported slag was 28 g per 50 mL waste water, time of microwave treatment was 17 min, and power of microwave radiation was 800 W. Under the optimal conditions, the removal rate of COD could reach 95%. The activated slag was reused, and some must be damaged; therefore the removal rate of COD declined.

The consruction of safe campuses is an important part of rehabilitation after the earthquake. The construction of the campus after the earthquake is quite different from the construction of general safe campuses in technology, functional service, storage modes and anti-disaster requinment. The article mainly studies the model and means of the design of the digitized safe campuses after disasters according to the analysis of the safe campuse construction situation of earthquake-affected area. It not only sets the overall framwork of the integrated video monitoring analysis, entrance guard, the emergency alarm, and public broadcasting, but also put forward the designs scheme of every sub-system, such as making use of cloud storage, intelligent video analysis and setting up emergency command center and so on.

A G-quadruplex-hemin DNAzyme-amplified Ag+-sensing method was developed based on the ability of Ag+ to stabilize C-C mismatches by forming C-Ag+-C base pairs. In this method, only one unlabelled oligonucleotide strand was used. In the absence of Ag+, the oligonucleotide strand formed an intramolecular duplex. The G-rich sequence in the oligonucleotide was partially caged in this duplex structure and cannot fold into the G-quadruplex structure. The addition of Ag+ promoted the formation of another intramolecular duplex in which C-C mismatches were stabilized by C-Ag+-C base pairs, leading to the release of the G-rich sequence which can fold into a G-quadruplex capable to bind hemin to form a catalytically active G-quadruplex-hemin DNAzyme. As a result, a UV-vis absorbance increasing was observed in the H2O2-ABTS (2,2′-azinobis(3-ethylbenzothiozoline)-6-sulfonic acid) reaction system. This " turn-on" process allowed the detection of aqueous Ag+ at concentrations as low as 6.3nM using a simple colorimetric technique, showing a high selectivity over a range of other metal ions. © 2010 Elsevier B.V.

Three discrete and elongated Wells-Dawson type clusters [Ln24(DMC)364-CO3)183-H2O)2]·nH2O (Ln = Tb (1), n = 4.5; Ln = Ho (2), n = 6; Ln = Er (3), n = 9; DMC = N, N-dimethylcarbamic acid anions) were synthesized by solvothermal. The ligands DMC and CO32 - derived from the oxide reaction of DMF in situ. The metal skeleton of the cluster can be ascribed as an elongated Wells-Dawson type polyoxometalate (POM) polyhedron comprised of eighteen Ln44-CO3) square units and two Ln33-H2O) triangles. The magnetic properties of three clusters were explored, and all of them did not exhibit frequency-dependence. The compound 1 shows the typical luminescence of Tb3 +. Interestingly, water molecules can significantly decrease the luminescent intensity, and other organic solvents including nitrobenzene have almost no effect on emission. © 2015 Elsevier B.V. It investigates modeling errors. The software can compensate probe errors, thermal and geometric errors.
