Fusion imaging technology of functional and anatomical imaging has greatly promoted the development of nuclear medicine equipment in the direction of multimodal imaging. These devices, such as SPECT/CT, SPECT/MR, PET/CT and PET/MR, has greatly improved the efficiency of diagnosis by assessing the metabolism information and supplying the precise anatomic localization of lesions. The application situation and development trend of SPECT/CT fusion imaging in clinical disease were reviewed in this paper. A20 (TNFAIP3), known to inhibit NF-B function by deubiquitinating-specific NF-B signaling molecules, has been found in many cell types of the immune system. Recent findings suggest that A20 is essential for the development and functional performance of dendritic cell, B cell, T cell and macrophage. A number of studies further demonstrate that these cells are crucial in the pathogenesis of autoimmune diseases, such as type 1 diabetes, systemic lupus erythematosus, inflammatory bowel disease, ankylosing arthritis, Sjgrens syndrome and rheumatoid arthritis. In this article, we focus on the recent advances on the roles of A20 in autoimmune diseases and discuss the therapeutic significance of these new findings.

Since a genome-wide association study revealed that Interleukin-23 receptor (IL-23R) gene is a candidate gene for Ulcerative Colitis (UC), many studies have investigated the association between the IL-23R polymorphisms and UC. However, the results were controversial. The aim of the study was to determine whether the IL-23R polymorphisms confer susceptibility to UC.A systematic literature search was carried out to identify all potentially relevant studies. Pooled odds ratios (ORs) with 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were used to estimate the strength of association.A total of 33 studies in 32 articles, including 10,527 UC cases and 15,142 healthy controls, were finally involved in the meta-analysis. Overall, a significant association was found between all UC cases and the rs11209026A allele (OR = 0.665, 95% CI = 0.604~0.733, P < 0.001). Similarly, meta-analyses of the rs7517847, rs1004819, rs10889677, rs2201841, rs11209032, rs1495965, rs1343151 and rs11465804 polymorphisms also indicated significant association with all UC (all P < 0.05). Stratification by ethnicity revealed that the rs11209026, rs7517847, rs10889677, rs2201841 andrs11465804 polymorphisms were associated with UC in the Caucasian group, but not in Asians, while the rs1004819 and rs11209032 polymorphisms were found to be related to UC for both Caucasian and Asian groups. However, subgroup analysis failed to unveil any association between the rs1495965 and rs1343151 polymorphisms and UC in Caucasians or Asians.The meta-analysis suggests significant association between IL-23R polymorphisms and UC, especially in Caucasians.

This present study aims to determine trends in the prevalence of H. pylori infections in Southeastern China between 2003 and 2012, and investigate corresponding changes in the prevalence of upper gastrointestinal diseases. This retrospective study screened 196,442 patients with a mean age of 47.4914.47years (age range 5-100years) in Southeastern China, and a total of 134,812 cases of an endoscopy-referral patient population with digestive symptoms between 2003 and 2012 were enrolled. Based on esophago-gastro-duodenoscopy and pathology, patients diagnosed with chronic gastritis, peptic ulcer, gastric cancer or reflux esophagitis were included in this study. Basic demographic and clinical characteristics such as H. pylori infection status and endoscopic findings were collected and analyzed. Among the 134,812 subjects, mean prevalence of H. pylori infection was 31.97%; which demonstrated a linear downward trend from 42.40 to 23.82% (P<0.001) at an annualrateof 2% from 2003 to 2012. Similarly, the prevalence of duodenal and gastric ulcer rapidly decreased from 12.65 to 6.57% and from 7.51 to 3.78%, respectively; while the prevalence of gastric cancer (from 3.76 to 2.34%) did not significantly change in the same time period. In contrast, the prevalence of reflux esophagitis increased from 6.19 to 12.80%. The progressively decreasing prevalence of H. pylori infections from 2003 to 2012 in Southeastern China appears to be linked with the decline of related upper gastrointestinal diseases and increase of some gastrointestinal motility diseases.

Tyrosine kinase inhibitors are increasingly used to treat chronic myeloid leukemia (CML), but loss of complete cytogenetic response (CCyR) indicates treatment failure.To compare the efficacy of Sokal, European Treatment Outcome Study (EUTOS), and Hasford prognostic scores with 3-month and 12-month CCyR, event-free survival (EFS) and progression-free survival (PFS) in patients with chronic-phase CML (CP-CML) undergoing imatinib therapy.We retrospectively analyzed the outcome of 210 patients with CP-CML treated at the First Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University treated between January 2006 and December 2013. Sokal, EUTOS, and Hasford scores were compared with 3-month and 12-month CCyR, EFS, and PFS.Kaplan-Meier analyses revealed that 3-month and 12-month CCyR and PFS were lower in patients with high EUTOS scores, and intermediate or high Sokal and Hasford scores (all P<0.05). Furthermore, EFS was lower in patients with intermediate or high Sokal and Hasford scores (both P<0.05). Hasford score (hazard ratio =2.608, 95% confidence interval: 1.473-4.617, P=0.001) was independently associated with 3-month CCyR.Although all three scoring systems were associated with EFS, PFS, and 3-month and 12-month CCyR in the Kaplan-Meier analyses (except EFS with EUTOS), only the Hasford score was independently associated with 3m-CCyR, while EUTOS score and Sokal score were not independently associated with any of these outcomes.

Large intergenic non-coding RNA ribonucleic acids-ROR (lincRNA-ROR) has been reported to exert impacts on the maintenance of induced pluripotent stem cells and embryonic stem cells, and play important roles in human hepatocellular cancer. It contributes to tumorigenesis and metastasis and functions as a competing endogenous RNA (ceRNA) by sponging miR-145 in breast cancer. However, its clinical significance and prognostic value in colon cancer remain unknown. The aim of the present study was to clarify the clinicopathological role and prognostic value of lincRNA-ROR and miR-145 in colon cancer. In the present study, qRT-PCR was performed to measure the expression levels of lincRNA-ROR in colon cancer tissues and cell lines. Then, the clinicopathological significance and prognostic value of lincRNA-ROR were analyzed. LincRNA-ROR expression correlated with pT stage, pN stage, AJCC stage and vascular invasion. Knockdown of lincRNA-ROR restored the expression of miR-145, and had a significant influence on colon cancer cell proliferation, migration and invasion. Patients of the high lincRNA-ROR/low miR-145 group had significantly poorer outcomes than those of the low lincRNA-ROR/high miR-145 group. Taken together, Overexpression of lincRNA-ROR combined with depletion of miR-145 may exert crucial impact on colon cancer prognosis evaluation and treatment. © 2016 Arányi Lajos Foundation

AIM: To discuss mathematic relationship with academic degree of intraocular lens in aphakia. METHODS: Based on geometrical optics method, Gullstrand exact model eye (No. 1) and standard intraocular lens model eye, academic degree of intraocular lens by the mathematic relationship with corneal anterior curvature radius (r1) were deduced, and corneal posterior curvature radius (r2), corneal thickness (T), ocular visual axis (L) and effective lens position (ELP) in aphakia were analyzed. RESULTS: The theoretical value of intraocular lens (IOL) was calculated by individual corneal data of numeration that academic degree of intraocular lens in aphakia. CONCLUSION: Implanted correct IOL in aphakia, all kinds of which with refractive error can be rectified and come to correlation emmetropia. ©, 2015, International Journal of Ophthalmology (c/o Editorial Office). OBJECTIVE: To investigate the differential diagnosis and treatment of acute scrotum. METHODS: We retrospectively analyzed the clinical characteristics of 316 cases of acute scrotum and reviewed the related literature. RESULTS: Among the total number, there were 117 cases of acute epididymitis (37.0%), 76 acute orchitis (24.1%), 39 acute periorchitis (12.3%), 23 acute scrotal infection (7.3%), 21 testicular trauma (6.6%), 17 idiopathic scrotal edema (5.4%), 16 testicular torsion (5.1%), and 7 scrotal gangrene (2.2%). Eighty-one of them underwent surgery and 235 received conservative treatment, of whom 1 with scrotal gangrene died of toxic shock for refusing surgical drainage. Those with testicular torsion all showed positive results in Prehn's test and responded well to surgery. CONCLUSION: Acute scrotum is detrimental to male health, for which early diagnosis and prompt treatment are essential.

To investigate the correlation between melanoma antigen gene A3 (MAGE-A3) expression and progression-free survival (PFS) of nonsmall cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients with epidermal growth factor receptor-tyrosine kinase inhibitor (EGFR-TKIs) therapy, aiming to provide a basis for research and treatment of EGFR-TKIs resistance.Retrospective analysis is conducted of PFS of 359 NSCLC patients who have been tested positive for EGFR, and experienced drug resistance during oral treatment of icotinib. MAGE-A3 expression is tested using immunology and histology chemistry methods, and T790M and c-MeT expression are tested using mutation-enriched polymerase chain reaction.(1) MAGE-A3 expression in targeted treatment of NSCLC patients shows a positive rate of 33.98%. The comparative difference between MAGE-A3 expression and T790M, c-MeT and other resistance genes was not statistically significant (P > 0.05). (2) MAGE-A3 expression was higher in patients with NSCLC targeted therapy of primary drug resistance of positive rate than acquired resistance; meanwhile the expression level differences in three modes of acquired resistance are statistically significant (P < 0.05). (3) PFS of MAGE-A3 positive expression in the targeted treatment of acquired drug resistance in patients with NSCLC is shorter than the PFS of MAGE-A3 negative expression (P = 0.01); the comparative PFS differences in the three kinds of acquired drug resistance pattern have statistical significance (P = 0.02). (4) PFS and levels of MAGE-A3 expression in NSCLC patients with the three modes of acquired resistance are negatively correlated (P < 0.01), and MAGE-A3 expression has no correlation with age, gender, pathological type or PS score (P > 0.05).MAGE-A3 expression in EGFR-TKIs target therapy in NSCLC patient suggests that there might be EGFR-TKIs drug resistance, and the higher the level of expression, the shorter the time of acquired drug resistance.
