Ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme (UBC or E2) is one of the key enzymes in ubiquitin-dependent protein degradation pathway. In this paper, the full-length cDNA of E2 was cloned and identified on the basis of the conducted cDNA library and EST library of the nearly matured Camellia oleifera seeds. The results showed that the cDNA of the C. oleifera E2 contained 804 bp, encoding 152 amino acids, and shared high homology with those of other species, and was also highly conserved in the evolution. © 2012 American Scientific Publishers All rights reserved.
