(R)-N-3,5-dinitrobenzoyl (DNB) leucine derived chiral selector was used as an HPLC chiral stationary phase for the resolution of various racemic amino acids derivatives. In this study, determination of optical purity of an amino acid derivative was performed by chiral high performance liquid chromatography and 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy by using the DNB leucine derived chiral selector. In the asymmetric unit of the title compound {systematic name: N′-(2,4-dimethylphenyl)-N-[N-(2,4-dimethylphenyl)carboximidoyl] -N-methylmethanimidamide}, C19H23N3, which is a formamidine pesticide, there are two independent and conformationally similar molecules, with the dihedral angle between the mean planes of the 2,4-dimethylbenzene rings in each molecule being 41.63 (6) and 42.09 (5)°. The crystal structure is stabilized by a C - H⋯N hydrogen bond, as well as weak intermolecular C - H⋯π and π-π interactions [ring centroid separation = 3.7409 (15) Å], giving one-dimensional chains extending down the b direction.

In the title compound, C14H14Cl2N 2O, the imidazole ring is almost parallel to the benzene ring, the dihedral angle between them being 7.3 (2)°. In the crystal, there is an inter-molecular C - Cl⋯π inter-action (Cl⋯centroid = 3.36 Å and C - Cl⋯centroid = 89.2°). In addition, a Cl⋯Cl contact of 3.411 (1) Å and an inter-molecular C - H⋯N hydrogen bond are observed. These inter-actions contribute to the stabilization of the crystal packing.

The title compound, C6H11N2O 4PS3, crystallizes with two independent molecules in the asymmetric unit. The dihedral angles between the thiadiazole ring planes and the PS2 planes of the phosphorodithioate group are 86.51 (5) and 56.33 (5)° in the two molecules. In the crystal, weak intermolecular S⋯S [3.570 (8) Å] interactions and C - H⋯O and C - H⋯N hydrogen bonds contribute to the stabilization of the packing.

In the title compound {systematic name: 4-chloro-N-[1-(1H-imidazol-1-yl)-2- propoxyethyl-idene]-2-(trifluoro-meth-yl)aniline}, C15H 15ClF3N3O, the dihedral angle between the aniline and imidazole ring planes is 81.80 (4)°. In the crystal structure, weak inter-molecular C - H⋯X (X = N, O or F) hydrogen bonds and C - H⋯π inter-actions help to consolidate the packing.

In the title compound, C11H18N4O 2 (systematic name: 2-dimethylamino-5,6-dimethyl-pyrimidin-4-yl N,N-dimethyl-carb-amate), the pyrimidine ring and dimethylamino group are almost in the same plane, making a dihedral angle of 1.6 (1)°. The dihedral angle between the mean plane of the pyrimidine ring and that of the dimethylcarbamate group is 83.42 (5)°. In the crystal structure, inter-molecular C - H⋯O hydrogen bonds contribute to the stabilization of the packing.

A two-dimensional network stair-step Cu4I4 coordination polymer (1) based on 1,4-bis((methylthio)propanoyl)piperazine was prepared. No emission was observed from 1 (off state), while a heated sample (2) of 1 emitted a strong green light (on state). Conversion between 1 and 2 was reversible upon removal of acetonitrile or exposure of 2 to acetonitrile. © 2013 The Authors.

In 2008, we monitored residual pesticides of 15 agricultural products such as rice, corn, pea, chestnut, mandarin, lemon, onion, pineapple, lettuce, chard, sweet potato stalk, burdock, squash, sweet pepper and mushroom. Agricultural commodities were collected from markets in 22 provinces (Seoul, Busan, Incheon, Daegu, Ulsan, Daejeon, Gwangju, Wonju, Pohang, Gumi, Changwon, Gimhae, Suwon, Seongnam, Bucheon, Goyang, Yongin, Cheongju, Cheonan, Jeonju, Yeosu, and Jeju). Total 48 pesticides were analysed by multi-residue method using GC/MS/MS. We analysed 1,064 samples and 34 samples (3.20%) were detected. Sweet potatostalk, burdock, chestnuts, peas, corn, chard, squash, mushroom and onions were found to be free from pesticide residues. 6 other agricultural products did not exceed MRLs (Maximum Residue Limits) by the Korean Food Code. Chloropyrifos and fenobucarb were particularly prevalent and also they were detected over 10 times in this monitoring. Nonetheless, the exposed quantity of the 7 residual pesticides is to be considered relatively safe, compared with the acceptable daily intake (ADI) of residual pesticides.
