This paper intends to share the experience of the Engineering Unit of Petrobras (IENE) responsible for the construction of pipelines and related plants northeast of Brazil in the implementation of the Monitoring and Archaeological Rescue Program in the gas pipelines of Catu/BA-Carmopolis/SE and Carmopolis/SE-Pilar/AL. The implementation of this Program was a condition of the environmental license and requirements of Brazilian environmental legislation and other legislation. The results of this program contributed to reveal information on the local history and also enforce the role of the company in the conciliation between the economic development promotion and the social and environmental responsibility.
