Due to the creation of an oxygen depression in the pores of refractory in contact with glass melt the surface tension of the melt increase. So the interaction between glass melt and refractory decreases. The implementation of the refining technology in the container glass industry make savings up to 1.3 million €/a for one furnace possible. Source
