Oscillating boundary layer flow over an infinite flat plate at rest was simulated using the k-. kL-. ω turbulence model for a Reynolds number range of 32. ≤. Reδ≤. 10,000 ranging from fully laminar flow to fully turbulent flow. The k-. kL-. ω model was validated by comparing the predictions with LES results and experimental results for intermittently turbulent and fully turbulent flow regimes. The good agreement obtained between the k-. kL-. ω model prediction with the experimental and LES results indicate that the k-. kL-. ω model is able to accurately simulate transient intermittently turbulent flow and as well as accurately predict the onset of turbulence for such oscillatory flows. © 2013 Elsevier Inc.

Knowledge based Interface Method and System between Analysis and geometric Model, the method comprises steps of removing geometric errors both at native CAD level and neutral CAD level, and improving a geometric model based on engineering knowledge rules. The present disclosure provides an apparatus, a system for a under-run protection device for a vehicle comprising a first beam member extending laterally to the direction of the vehicle, wherein a partial portion of the first beam has a corrugated cross-section. A second beam member mounted on the first beam member positioned and adapted to absorb an impact from another vehicle by deforming when the impact force exceeds a predetermined level, further the partial corrugated cross-section of the first beam member enables reduction in construction/manufacturing material for the said second beam member. An apparatus and method for improving friction spot welding process is described herein. According to the method of the present invention, two different metal sheets of similar or dissimilar material can be joined together with the help of a filler material that is filled in a cavity formed at the top of the upper metal sheet. Additionally, either a reinforcement material or an alloy element or combination of both is added in the cavity. The material is plasticized as the filler material is rotated and pushed in the cavity under the application of force. The weld is completed by filling the entire filler material at the weld interface. The addition of reinforcement material or an alloy element enables in customization of interface material properties enhancing the joint strength.
