The yield is low and dispersed shrinkage often occurs in the roll neck when using insulating riser for static production of steel rolls. A KH-3200 type controllable silicon power was used, and a riser heating device was assembled and applied to the static production of steel rolls. The principle of the device and method of operation were presented. The experimental results show that the electric heating riser can increase significantly the feeding efficiency and reduce the riser height, therefore decrease the consumption of raw materials. The yield of the casting can be increased by 10% or more, and the production cost can be reduced greatly.

With the improvement of the quality of hot strip, the higher requirements for the roll, especially the work roll of the finishing unit were put forward. Through the adjustment of composition, process optimization and trial application, the comprehensive properties of the indefinite chilled roll produced by centrifugal casting were improved. The results show that the technical indexes such as total steel amount of the roll, wearing resistance, etc., reach the expected effect.

The eddy current inspection of online is widely used grinding roll by the hot strip and plate mill rolls, aiming at the crack, bruise defects of high Cr cast iron rolls, the production process, hardness, microstructure of grinding roll were analyzed, the main cause of crack, bruise were obtained: in the production process, the roll mode vibration, resulting in segregation, while the unreasonable heat treatment process result in internal residual austenite amount increased. High nickel chrome molybdenum compound ductile iron roller was produced by centrifugal casting. Crack defects often appeared in the roll barrel, which became the important influencing factors to restrain the improvement of product quality. Through analyzing the characteristics and origination of crack in the roll barrel, the countermeasures were put forward. Through the countermeasures, crack in the roll barrel is effectively controled and decreased, increasing the qualification rate of the roller.
