Purpose. To determine the factors affecting the efficiency of knowledge appliance process which can serve as a basis for evaluation and improvement of knowledge appliance process in an organisation. Methodology. To determine the factors being of importance for evaluation and problems of the efficiency of knowledge appliance process and to systematise the factors we have used theoretical analysis, comparison and generalisation methods and applied multiply assessment methods. Findings. The scientists, who analyse factors of knowledge appliance process efficiency, interpret them differently. This makes it difficult to decide, which view reflects the reality of knowledge appliance process and makes its evaluation more accurate and comprehensive. As a result of scientific literature analysis the primary list of factors affecting the efficiency of knowledge appliance process was made for the further evaluation to solve the mentioned problem. Originality. Organisations often face the problem of knowledge value loss when existing knowledge is not used in work or its implementation is not effective. The effective knowledge appliance process should be ensured by making the microclimate of organisation and its infrastructure suitable for using existing or new knowledge. To start the process of implementation of new knowledge at an enterprise effectively the most important factors affecting the efficiency of knowledge appliance process should be determined by the new methods of complex evaluation of factors and the process improvement suggested in this article. Practical value. The factors affecting the efficiency of knowledge appliance process were identified based on scientific literature analysis. The evaluation of the factors allows us to identify the problematical areas of knowledge appliance process and to make the decisions to improve it. © 2014, Natsional'nyi Hirnychyi Universytet. Purpose. To determine the ways of knowledge transfer within the educational milieu, and the influence of social media (social networks, wikis, blogs) on knowledge flow within students and lecturers, including peer to peer communication. Methodology. We have carried out case analysis of knowledge transfer between students and faculty. The authors designed the profiles for the lecturers and students to explore the different ways of communications in modern educational environment and different ways of searching information. Findings. The results show new ways of delivering knowledge to students as well as improving knowledge management tools and methodology. There appeared new tools to search and share knowledge thanks to web 2.0. Students as the advanced users of social media sometimes prefer to use this channel to get important information. There are new task for lecturer to support their students in social media. Originality. We gave an adequate description of the phenomenon of modern development of information and communication technology in the educational milieu. Practical value. Purpose. Development of the method of KPI tree transformation into the decision tree to be used in BSC. Methodology. Creating mathematical model of inverse calculations to achieve the above purpose. Findings. Mathematical tool of the inverse computation to transform the tree of KPI indicators in the decision tree for application was developed. The Balanced ScoreCard concept appeared 15 years ago. But even now many companies face a great amount of problems during its implementation due to unavailability of clear methods and tools. There is a list of problems that appears during the implementation process: suitable performance indicators definition and calculation methods, connection of indicators in different management levels, decision preparation based on the hierarchy of goals, intuition influence on the decision-making process, decision-making support systems design and so on. To solve this problem an enterprise should develop new formalized methods and tools and find new indicators that can be decomposed easily and utilized in the decision-making process. Originality. For the first time the method of inverse calculations was adapted for extending functionality of ballanced scorecard. Practical value. The method shown in this paper can be used independently, without the formation of cards, within the BSC framework. Purpose. To develop the methods of creating new knowledge to increase the quantity of innovative goods and services which will be competitive on the world market through the use of patent information in the terms of modern information society. To describe the main characteristics and challenges of modern information society. Methodology. To solve the problems we used the following methods and approaches: analysis of patent search databases necessary technical conditions for the relevant groups and subgroups in the ASI; examination of the content of the International Patent Classification; statistical analysis of documents full-text websites of international patent organizations and national patent offices; overview of patent documents found on the links index IPC. Findings.The main characteristics of modern information society and network economy are outlined in this paper. The main patent world resources are analyzed and chosen. The methods of searching patent documents in the world and national patent data bases is developed and proposed. The fundamental principles of the information society development and network economy are identified. Major Russian government programs defining development strategy in the fields of information society development and innovations, the State Program "Information Society 2020" and The Strategy of Innovative Development of the Russian Federation for the period up to 2020 "Innovative Russia - 2020" are reviewed in this paper. Originality. The research aims to improve the process of knowledge creation through the use of global patent information in today's information society in order to develop technological innovations for the domestic and international markets. Practical value.The rapid growth and differentiation of the demand for all kinds of information, including scientific, technical, economic, financial and commercial data, as well as increasing demand for the information content and the forms of its presentation, are the dominant incentive for the development of information systems to exchange electronic data. Patent information, contained in the world patent databases, allows the company to create new knowledge, to determine the existing state of the art and the leading direction of innovations, to develop technological innovations on the basis of the achieved technical level and to register the enterprise's exclusive rights on new invention and innovations. © 2014, Natsional'nyi Hirnychyi Universytet. Purpose. Study of the prospects for the application of ICT to develop learning management systems (LMS) supporting individual learning trajectories for students. Methodology. This study carried out case analysis of e-learning in depth, based on the papers of Russian e-learning researchers E. Makarenkova [1] and D. Chistov [2]. Psychology of education was taken into account to discover the learning process as an individual extraction of new knowledge from idea to its formalization. The results of psychologists were used in the implementation of Decision Support System (DSS) as an approach to develop the proposed LMS. Findings. IT companies offer variety of information and communication technologies (ICT) for learning and management of education system. Thanks to ICT the impressive quality progress of training and education was achieved. But there are still a lot of uncovered opportunities to education improvement for public, learners and institutions. ICT makes it possible to revise the whole learning process of an individual. Nowadays, we are able to consider the theme of individual educational trajectories. Development of LMS with the approach of DSS allows us to design individual educational trajectory without additional costs for students and lecturers. However, the university has some expenditure on the establishment of this appropriate to their LMS. Originality. We have combined the achievements of DSS and educational psychology to solve problems in e-learning. The study has discovered new prospects in the design of individual trajectories in education. Practical value. The information and communication technologies for learning and education management have been analyzed. We have found that significant progress in the development of education was achieved through information and communication technologies, but left many untapped opportunities to improve learning for all participants: community, students, and teachers. Analysis of the practical application of information technology DSS revealed that its use allows us to develop LMS realizing individual trajectory without additional financial costs for students and teachers. © 2014, Natsional'nyi Hirnychyi Universytet. A circular micro strip antenna is analyzed with the radius of the patch (a) and the height of the substrate (h) being optimized to make the antenna resonate at 5GHz. The optimization is done through programs using MATLAB R2009b and the obtained results are used to prepare the model of the antenna using CST Studio Suite 2011. The model of the antenna gives idea about the physical viability according to its performance. © 2015 IEEE.

Stroke is the third most common cause of death and a main cause of acquired adult disability in developed countries. Only very limited therapeutical options are available for a small proportion of stroke patients in the acute phase. Current research is intensively searching for novel therapeutic strategies and is increasingly focusing on the sub-acute and chronic phase after stroke because more patients might be eligible for therapeutic interventions in a prolonged time window. These delayed mechanisms include important pathophysiological pathways such as post-stroke inflammation, angiogenesis, neuronal plasticity and regeneration. In order to analyze these mechanisms and to subsequently evaluate novel drug targets, experimental stroke models with clinical relevance, low mortality and high reproducibility are sought after. Moreover, mice are the smallest mammals in which a focal stroke lesion can be induced and for which a broad spectrum of transgenic models are available. Therefore, we describe here the mouse model of transcranial, permanent coagulation of the middle cerebral artery via electrocoagulation distal of the lenticulostriatal arteries, the so-called coagulation model. The resulting infarct in this model is located mainly in the cortex; the relative infarct volume in relation to brain size corresponds to the majority of human strokes. Moreover, the model fulfills the above-mentioned criteria of reproducibility and low mortality. In this video we demonstrate the surgical methods of stroke induction in the coagulation model and report histological and functional analysis tools.
