Syktyvkar State University is the principal university in Syktyvkar, the capital of the Komi Republic in Russia. It was founded in 1972 and has over 3,500 full-time students and 250 faculty members.During the fall and winter 2007-2008, Syktyvkar State University was selected to host the Associate Regional Office of Undergraduate Studies for Russia of the University of the Arctic.The university is associated with the Russian Mineralogical Society.The Huazhong University of Science & Technology rates the university as 98th among Russian universities.In March 2009 the university established the Sorokin Research Center to undertake research and publication of archive materials on the sociologist Pitirim Sorokin from international sources, mainly from the Sorokin's special collection at the University of Saskatchewan in Canada. The structure of PbTe films after anodic electrochemical etching in Norr electrolyte is studied by high resolution X-ray diffractometry and reflectometry. Lattice defects before and after etching are estimated. The quantitative parameters of the pores are determined. DOSY spectroscopy was used to assess the involvement of inner N-H protons of porphyrinic compounds in exchange processes. The assessment was made by comparison of increase of self-diffusion coefficients of N-H and C-H protons. The difference in the measured coefficients can serve as a quantitative measure of hydrogen exchange intensity and thus of N-H acidity. Using DOSY allowed to demonstrate that regardless of the strongly different chemical shifts, the N-H bonds in porphyrins and chlorins have similar acidity and the magnetically non-equivalent inner N-H protons in chlorins have a different degree of involvement in exchange processes. © ISUCT Publishing.

The transfer matrix method for the theory of elastic wave scattering in anisotropic layered medium is developed. The cases of the six-beam diffraction are considered. The method of the transfer matrix exp(Wz) computation is based on the use of polynomials of principal minors in combination with scaling of matrix W. This method, in contrast to the Lagrange-Sylvester and others known polynomial approaches does not require solution of eigenvalue problem. Evaluations of the scaling parameter and relative truncation error of the method are made. Some features of the conversions of shear waves and longitudinal wave are demonstrated by calculations of the diffraction on a crystalline silicon layer. It is shown that the conversion SH wave into SV waves and SV wave into SH waves are equivalent. © Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd.

Transformation of meadow communities under the impact of hay harvesting and livestock grazing has been studied in the floodplains of the Vychegda and Pechora rivers. Changes in the floristic composition, structure, and productivity of meadows have been evaluated using synanthropization and adventization indices. The new method of the matrix exponential exp (Wz) computation is based on the use of symmetric polynomials of n-th order in combination with scaling matrix W. Calculation algorithm uses a new type of recurrence relations, which were obtained for symmetric polynomials. Evaluation of the scaling parameter, which provides a reliable calculation of the matrix exponential with admissible truncation error, is made. Method of minimizing roundoff errors in the calculation of high powers of matrices is suggested. © 2013 IEEE.

Method of symmetric polynomials (MSP) is developed to calculations of high powers of matrices. It is based on the new type of recurrence relations between symmetric polynomials of n-th order. New algorithm for computation j-th power of matrix of order n is compared with methods of ordinary multiplication and repeated squaring of matrix. Dependencies of comparative effectiveness R of the new method from power j and order n of matrix are investigated. Computation matrix M2j by MSP is more effective and accurate than the method of repeated squaring of matrix if j > n, and with increasing j comparative effectiveness R tends to n/2. © 2015 IEEE.

Method of the transfer matrix is used to describe the six-wave diffraction in layered media. The system of differential equations that determine the 6-order transfer matrix is solved by the scaling method with the aid of 6-th order symmetric polynomials. This method is applied to the elastic waves in anisotropic media. Influence of layer thickness and frequency of the wave on the scaling parameter is found. Analytic solutions describing the transfer of thermoe-lastic waves in isotropic media and elastic stresses in the crystalline layers of the cubic, tetragonal and orthorhombic systems are obtained. © 2014 IEEE.

Reversible phase transitions of bismuth niobate Bi3NbO 7 have been observed: from the lowtemperature cubic modification to the tetragonal one at 860 C and from the tetragonal modification to the hightemperature cubic one at 950-980 C. With increasing temperature of the cubic modification preparation, the unit cell parameter has been decreasing. Electrophysical properties of the cubic phases have matched at the frequencies below 1 kHz (up to 650 K). The specific conductivity of the tetragonal phase exceeds that of the cubic phase by no more than an order of magnitude (below 1000 K). © 2014 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.
