The electrochemical behavior of high nitrogen stainless steel (HNS) in 1 mol/L NaCl solution with different pH values was investigated by means of potentiodynamic polarization curves, electrochemical impendence spectrum and current-time transient curves. The results show that anodic passivation of HNS could occur in alkaline solutions, while the corrosion rate of HNS decreased with the increasing pH value; a porous film might be grown on HNS in neutral NaCl solution due to the companying processes of dissolution and repassivation. In acidic and alkaline NaCl solutions, the formed passive films on HNS exhibit superior protectiveness rather than that in neutral NaCl solution.

This paper describes a new innovation design idea of mechanical clamping device based on lever force amplifier by linear motor. Based on the idea, design a series of mechanical clamping devices featuring clear logic idea. The corresponding formulas and graphic examples of output force are given of. The lever-toggle force amplifier is aimed to meet the needs of larger output force. A method to monitor endocrine-disrupting chemical contamination phthalate esters (PAEs) by surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) spectroscopy has been investigated. The molecular structure and assignment of the vibrations of dimethyl phthalate (DMP), forming short chains in PAEs, has been studied by density functional theory (DFT) calculations. The structure of DMP with the dihedral angles of 1C-6C-11C-13O and 4C-5C-18C-20O being 133.78° and -24.00°, respectively, has the lowest energy. Theoretical vibrational frequencies using B3LYP/6-31 + G(d) (after scaling) show excellent agreement with the experimental normal Raman spectrum. In the region 200-1800 cm-1, SERS spectra of DMP were measured using ordered gold nanosubstrates. All except the weak signals in the normal Raman spectrum of DMP were successfully enhanced. These results demonstrate that SERS technology could be developed as a rapid method for screening of DMP. © 2015 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

A simple and efficient method was established based on high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) to separate and detect thirteen analytes of monosaccharides, disaccharides, oligosaccharides and sugar alcohols (xylose, fructose, glucose, sucrose, maltose, lactose, 1-kestose, nystose, 1F-fructofuranosyl nystose, erythritol, mannitol, xylitol, maltitol) in foods. The separation was performed on an NH2 column with the gradient elution of acetonitrile-water as the mobile phases. The analytes were detected by an evaporative light-scattering detector (ELSD). All the thirteen sugars had good linearities within 0.1 - 5 g/L with the correlation coefficients between 0.9901 - 0.9996. The limits of detection (LOD) were all less than 0.1 g/L. The precisions of the method expressed as RSDs were in the range of 2.69% -7.21%. The recoveries of the thirteen analytes spiked in real samples ranged from 96.1% to 105.2%. This method was applied to the actual sample testings and the results showed the food labels were greatly different from the actual compositions.
