In order to investigate the influence of the molecular mass of polycarbosilane (PCS) on the polyaluminocarbosilanes (PACS), the PACS was synthesized by the PCS with different molecular masses (Mn) (i.e., Mn: 929, 1050 and 1186). The results indicate that the magnitude and the distribution width of the molecular mass of PACS both increase with the increase of the molecular mass of PCS. The amount of Si-H bond of PACS show little variation with the increase of the molecular mass of PCS, but the ceramic yield of PACS exhibited an increase. The ceramic yield of PACS was increased via thermal crosslinking of different PACSs, and the growth degree was increased due to the increase of the molecular mass of PCS. The spinning property of PACS decreased with the increase of molecular mass of PCS. Source
