An elastomeric polymer composition formed from a reaction product of a living anionic elastomeric polymer and sulfur containing chain end modifier with the general formula: (RO)_(x)(R)_(y)SiRSZ wherein O is oxygen, x is an integer selected from 1, 2 and 3; y is an integer selected from 0, 1, and 2; x+y=3, R is the same or different and is: (C_(1)-C_(16)) alkyl; R is an aryl, an alkylaryl, a (C_(7)-C_(16)) alkyl aryl, or a (C_(1)-C_(16)) alkyl which may be linear or branched, saturated or unsaturated and may be substituted with: (C_(1)-C_(4)) alkyl, (C_(1)-C_(4)) alkoxy, (C_(7)-C_(16)) aryl, (C_(7)-C_(16)) aralkyl, nitrile, amine, NO_(2), thioalkyl; and Z is a protective group. Methods are described for making the elastomeric polymer composition, their use in preparing vulcanized elastomeric compositions, and articles made from such compositions, including pneumatic tires, tire treads, belts, and the like.

The present invention relates to a process for preparing a polymer latex comprising polymerizing one or more ethylenically unsaturated aromatic monomers and one or more conjugated diene monomers in the presence of hydroperoxide chain transfer agent and sulfur-containing chain transfer agent, wherein the sulfur-containing chain transfer agent is added after the hydroperoxide chain transfer agent. It further relates to the polymer latex thus obtained, to a composition comprising the polymer latex and to the use of the polymer latex or polymer latex composition in a carpet backing, paper coating, or fiber fabric pre-impregnation process.

A polycarbonate resin composition having improved chemical resistance and solvent resistance while maintaining the impact resistance, heat resistance, thermal stability, and the like inherent to the polycarbonate resin which comprises 100 parts by weight of polycarbonate resin and 0.01 to 20 parts by weight of a specific alkyl ketene dimer, and inhibits problems such as cracking, and the like, even when solvents or various chemicals such as hand creams and detergents adhere to the molded article obtained from the resin composition.


A composition comprising a blend of: a) one or more polycarbonates; b) one or more polyesters; c) one or more core shell rubbers having glycidyl groups on the surface of the core; and d) one or more halogenated fire retardant agent; wherein the polycarbonates and polyesters form separate phases and the core shell rubber is located in the polyester phase. The compositions may further comprise a fluoropolymer capable of functioning as an anti-drip agent. The compositions exhibit a flame retardant rating according to UL-94 at V-0 of 3.0 mm or less; a notched Izod impact strength of about 8 foot pounds per inch or greater and chemical resistance to one or more of the common cleaning compositions selected from bleach, polyethylene glycol, a mixture of aryl substituted phenols and aryl substituted chlorophenols, a mixture of an alkanol and a monoalkyl ether of ethylene glycol, and one or more ammonium chlorides.
