The invention relates to a feed mixture for use in a process for producing hydrocarbons under increased pressure and temperature conditions, where the feed mixture comprises one or more carbonaceous feedstocks and water, where further a texturing agent has been added to the feed mixture, the texturing agent being adapted to stabilize the feed mixture to prevent separation and further to maintain the feed mixture as a homogenous mixture during a pressurization. Further the invention relates to processes for manufacturing such feed mixture.

The invention relates to a method for producing liquid hydrocarbon, the method comprising: providing a feed material, pressurizing the feed material to a predetermined process pressure, heating the pressurized feed material to a predetermined process temperature, reacting the pressurized and heated feed material for a predetermined period of time, cooling the reacted feed material and mechanically separating a high viscosity fraction from the converted feed material before conveying the remaining converted feed mass through a pressure reduction system and further through a separation system.


The invention relates to a process for continuously converting carbonaceous material contained in one or more feedstocks into a liquid hydrocarbon product, said feedstocks including the carbonaceous material being in a feed mixture including one or more fluids, said fluids including water, the process comprising: converting at least part of the carbonaceous material by pressurising the feed mixture to an operational pressure in the range 150-400 bar, heating the feed mixture to an operational temperature in the range 300-450 C., and maintaining said pressurized and heated feed mixture in the desired pressure and temperature ranges in a reaction zone for a predefined time; cooling the feed mixture to a temperature in the range 25-200 C. and expanding the feed mixture to a pressure in the range of 1-70 bar, thereby causing the carbonaceous material to be converted to a liquid hydrocarbon product; and separating from the converted feed mixture a fraction comprising liquid hydrocarbon product; where prior to the pressurisation and heating of the feed mixture the system has been brought to an operational state by filling the system with a fluid while the system being at a temperature and a pressure below the operational temperature and pressure, and subsequently heating and pressurizing the fluid to the operational conditions at a predetermined heating and pressurisation rate, where the pressure is constantly kept at a level above the saturation pressure for the fluid at a given temperature; and where upon reaching the operational temperature and pressure the fluid inflow to the pressurisation is terminated and the feed mixture inflow to the pressurisation is initiated.

The invention relates to a continous process for converting carbonaceous material contained in at least two feedstocks into a liquid hydrocarbon product, said feedstocks including at least one feedstock of biomass and at least one feedstock of lignite and/or peat, said feedstocks including the carbonaceous material being in a feed mixture including one or more fluids, said fluids including water and further liquid organic compounds at least partly produced by the process in a concentration of at least 1% by weight, where the process comprises converting at least part of the carbonaceous material by pressurising the feed mixture to a pressure in the range 50-400 bar, heating the feed mixture to a temperature in the range 250-500 C., and maintaining said pressurized and heated feed mixture in the desired pressure and temperature ranges in a reaction zone for a predefined time; cooling the feed mixture to a temperature in the range 25-200 C. and expanding the feed mixture to a pressure in the range of 1-70 bar, thereby causing the carbonaceous material to be converted to a liquid hydrocarbon product; and separating a fraction comprising liquid hydrocarbon product and leaving a residual fraction.

The ambition for the Project is to pave-the-way for commercialization and implementation of Steeper Energy Aps (SEA) innovative hydrothermal liquefaction technology platform: HydrofactionTM. The proprietary technology is a highly efficient method to produce renewable fuel oil with similarities to petroleum fuel oils. Timely commercialization will be achieved by bringing Hydrofaction to market via testing, scale-up and demonstration. Based on a proven new chemical process, using renewable low-cost (non-food) feedstocks, Hydrofaction Oil can be burned in CHP applications, used a substitute for low-sulphur marine diesel or may be upgraded to diesel or jet via traditional petroleum refineries. The Project will advance the design of the Hydrofaction technology platform and mature the Companys preparedness to attract new investment while moving the TRL level from 6 to 8: a critical step toward the commercialization of Hydrofaction. The Project objectives include adjusting the product offering to meet the needs of technology users (licensees) and their customers (oil buyers) by lowering the risks associated with the performance of future commercial plants as well as improving or modifying the quality of Hydrofaction Oil. Within the design of the Project, Hydrofaction Oil will be produced from feedstocks provided by potential commercial partners as well as comprehensive testing of that oil at certified laboratories. Future licensees expect that the scaled demonstration plant, approximately 100 times larger than SEAs current Pilot facility or 5.000 fuel tonne export capacity, will be representative in both physical design and operations to subsequent full-scale commercial plants to be based on 50.000 fuel tonne export modules transforming large amounts of biomass residuals to Hydrofaction Oil for oil refineries to upgrade to renewable diesel. Key milestones include advancing existing business partner/licensee/project relationships to signed LOIs and MOUs.
