The synthesis of carboxyl-containing complexing agents derived from secondary amines as highly efficient reagents for solving specific problems in science, engineering, medicine, agriculture, and other fields is an urgent task in organic chemistry. Published data on the synthesis of such practically valuable compounds as ethylenediamine-N,N′-diacetic (sym.EDDA), ethylenediamine-N,N′-di-β-propionic acids (sym.EDDP), iminodiacetic (IDA), and iminodi-β-propionic (IDP) acids are symmarized. The latest achievements in the synthetic chemistry of carboxyl-containing complexing agents - ethylenediamine-N,N-di-β-propionic (as.EDDP) and a previously unknown new ethylenediamine-N-β-propionic (βEDMP) EDMP) acids - are presented. © 2015 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.

The problem of phosphoric industry waste utilisation is one of the important aspects of the environmental protection in Russia and Kazakhstan as well as in some other countries world-wide. Effective solution of this problem requires using of the system analysis methods and the most modern information technologies. Therefore, the main purposes of our work are: The system analysis of the influence of innovative activity for environmental characteristics of the phosphoric industry of Russia, and also the development of the information technology for the rational phosphoric industry waste utilization of Kazakhstan. As a part of EC co-funded project ECOPHOS No. INCO-CT-2005-013359 had been developed of information technology tool for the HSE management of phosphoric industry of Russia and Kazakhstan based on CALS-concept (Continuous Acquisition and Life cycle Support). A review of the methods of synthesis of fluorescein is given. An improved method of synthesis of a chromatographically pure fluorescein-5-isothiocyanate nanomarker for labeling immunoglobulins is developed, which will allow creation of high-quality biosensors. A unique method of synthesis of 5-aminofluorescein, a precursor of fluorescein-5-isothiocyanate, was also developed. The properties of fluorescein-5-isothiocyanate were studied to find that it exists in two forms having different solubility. © 2015 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.

A manufacturable technology for the production of an antiviral composition containing phosphonoacetic acid, involing PH-alkylation of dimethyl phosphite with methyl chloroacetate under phase-transfer conditions and subsequent in situ hydrolysis of the intermediate product, was developed. The composition showed expressed antiviral effect against herpesviral infections caused by herpes simplex virus 1 and 2 and cytomegalovirus. The composition in the effective concentration range was found to exhibit no cytotoxic effect on VERO green monkey kidney and M-19 human diploid cell cultures. The resulting data suggest potential uses of the composition as an antiviral agent in practical medicine and as an antiviral additive to synthetic detergents for sanitation in health care and food production facilities. © 2015 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.

A study was conducted to determine corrections to the limiting Debye-Huckel law, which were based on certain model concepts. It was considered that an arbitrary ion located in the center of symmetry was surrounded by a cloud of the ionic atmosphere with a uniform charge distribution. The researchers assumed the appearance of local variations of the charge density on the surface of the ionic atmosphere on the basis of general concepts on the chaotic character of ion thermal motion that affected the central ion and its surrounding atmosphere. The selected ion was shifted from the position of the center of symmetry as a result of this assumption. The results for the osmotic coefficient, which had been calculated according to Equation (9), were also compared to experimental data for the entire range of electrolyte aqueous solutions.

It has been demonstrated that a combination of H 2O and H 2PO 4 - groups in the coordination sphere of iron(III) complexes leads to the bathochromic shift and changes the shapes of the 6A 1g 6S- 4A 1g, 4E g transition band and charge transfer bands, whereas the substitution of phosphate ligands for all water mole- cules does not lead to such changes. The stabilization energies of aquaphosphate complexes have been calcu- lated from the low-energy shifts. Spectrochemical parameters of iron(III) phosphate complexes have been determined. © Pleiades Publishing, Ltd., 2012.
