A synchronous sampling and real-time transmission system is developed for land seismic data acquisition system. Traditionally, each node uses a local oscillator as its sampling clock, and synchronous sampling between each node is tried by using software calibration algorithms. High resolution has been proven to be hard to achieve due to different initial local clock phases, accumulated clock jitter, and limited efficiency of the software. A synchronous sampling method based on clock recovery and Phase Locked Loop (PLL) is proposed in the paper to synchronize sampling for the wire sensor networks on hardware. Test results indicate that the achieved resolution of synchronous sampling is fixed after power-on with no accumulation effect, and the sampling instant difference between two neighboring nodes is maximally 1 nanosecond in the worst case. At the same time, the long data transmission is realized based on serializer/deserializer technology. Source
