In this paper, based on the experiments of high speed dry cutting nickel alloyed ductile iron with different nickel contents by graded ceramic tool, the cutting performance and wear mechanisms of graded ceramic tool were investigated. Results reveal that with the increase of cutting speed and nickel content the wear of graded ceramic tool is increased, wear mechanisms are transformated spalling and cohesive wear from abrasive wear, and chip shapes are turned into long arc segment from short segment. © (2014) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

The microwave drying principle, mass transfer process and heat transfer process were studied. The different wool tops were dried in the microwave drier and the experiment results were analysized. According to the technology experiment, which indicate that the microwave drying technology can be used to drying wool tops. After microwave drying, the moisture among the wool tops was more even and with a high drying efficiency and quality. When the wool tops were dried in a ball type as a unit, the temperature of the wool top in the center of the ball was higher than 80 °C, and the surface was covered with a thin water layer; when the loose wool top was dried, the feeling was fluffier, and the temperature was lower than 40 °C. Compared with the energy consumption, the single layer is higher than the multilayer (6∼8 layer).

We report a systematic study to determine the effect of the cutting process on the dimensional accuracy of expendable patterns formed used polystyrene foam. We consider the impact of the spindle speed, feed rate and cutting depth. The results show that the dimensional accuracy in the horizontal directions was not significantly affected by the cutting process parameters; however, the machining accuracy in the vertical direction was strongly influenced by these parameters. As the spindle speed increased, the error in the vertical direction decreased considerably; as the feed rate increased, the error in the vertical direction increased gradually; and we found an optimum range of cutting depths, outside of which the dimensional accuracy in the vertical direction suffered. © (2014) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

In order to ensure the rationality of a rescue engineering machinery product at the trial-manufacture stage, shortening the development cycle and realize design and evaluation in different places is discussed, which motion simulation technology based on virtual reality modeling language. The whole three-dimensional model is optimized by setting data hierarchy and DOF node. The corresponding equations of motion are obtained by analyzing and simplifying the product's trajectories. The simulation platform which is independent from CAD software is developed in order to ensure the factuality, real-time and generality of the simulation. The final simulation results are close to the actual running state. The application results are of great theoretical significance and applicable value to the optimization and training of the machine. ©2013 Journal of Mechanical Engineering.

There are many advantages to produce the aluminum alloy housing castings by digital precision forming technology without pattern. Based on the structure characteristics of complex housing castings, the flow field and temperature field in casting process and the casting process were designed and optimized by simulation software. Combined with the digital forming technology without pattern casting, a systematic, fast and low cost process for new product development from product process design to real casting was established. The process integrates the CAD/CAE/CAM technology without the mold any more, which can decrease the development period and reduce the rejection rate. ©, 2015, Journal Office of Special Casting and Nonferrous Alloys.
