Mn-doped ZnO nanorod arrays (ZnO:Mn NAs) have been prepared by a solution deposition method and the effect of Mn modification has been studied. Microstructure, morphology, photoluminescence characteristics of the ZnO: Mn NAs were investigated using X-ray diffraction, field emission scanning electron microscopy, fourier transform infrared spectrometer, fluorescence spectrophotometer. XRD analysis shows that ZnO:Mn NAs are wurtzite phases and highly c-axis oriented. As for ZnO:Mn NAs, obvious changes of photoluminescence intensity are observed at the wavelength of 395nm and 550 nm, according to Mn/Zn atomic ratio.

The problem of rollover stability control of heavy vehicle is transformed into the problem of achieving robust interference suppression by state feedback control. On this basis, taking the lateral load transfer ratio as control objective, a robust state feedback controller is designed based on linear matrix inequality (LMI). And then both open-loop and human-vehicle closed loop rollover stability controls are comparatively simulated with the models available in commercial software Trucksim. The results show that the LMI robust rollover controller can effectively improve the rollover stability of vehicle with better interference immunity and robustness.

This paper presents a visual attention model for dynamic scenes based on motion features. The aim is to obtain the region of interest in accordance with the observer's attention in a multiple moving objects situation. Motion speed and motion orientation are selected as the motion features, which make the processing in the model similar to natural observation. A block matching algorithm and a 'center-surround' operation are used to extract features. A motion saliency map is created by the integration of a motion speed conspicuity map and a motion orientation conspicuity map. The experiment shows that the model performs an object-based selection which is effective in complex scenes with efficient background noise suppression. © 2012 IEEE.

This paper aims to accurately obtain connecting plate outline. First, a camera captured a connecting plate image, then transmitted it to a computer, next converted it to a gray image, after that used Canny operator to extracted its edge information, and converted the pixel points of the gray image to rectangular coordinate values, at last found out all of the vertices of the connecting plate. Research result shows that the system is simple, its accuracy is less than 0.3%, and the data processing is convenience. © (2011) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

Recent Patents on Inflammation and Allergy Drug Discovery | Year: 2010

The prevalence of allergic diseases has increased dramatically in recent decades. Holding patens is one of the means to protect good anti-allergy products. However, little is known of anti-allergy patent situation in China. The paper summarized and analyzed anti-allergy patents issued in China from January 1988 to September 2008. A total of 789 anti- allergy patents have been granted in China during the 20 years. China, European countries, USA, Japan and other countries possesses 44%, 21%, 19%, 12% and 4% of all of these anti-allergy patents respectively. Interestingly, 88% anti- allergy patents issued to Chinese are held by civilians, whereas vast majority of the patents issued to foreigners were held by pharmaceutical companies. All anti-allergy patents are focused on synthetic compounds, Traditional Chinese medicines (TCM), combinations of synthetic compounds and TCM (CST), biological products and medical apparatus. The anti-allergy patents in China mainly focus on well-known targets, such as histamine receptor and leukotrienes, which consist of 93% of patents for validated targets. Approximately 93% targeting diseases are bronchial asthma, allergic rhinitis and atopic dermatitis. Our analyzing results indicate that there are great opportunities for application of patents on development of novel anti-allergic compounds and modernization of TCM in China. © 2010 Bentham Science Publishers Ltd.

A blind adaptive subspace code-aided technique for suppression of narrowband interference (NBI) and multiple access interference (MAI) in code division multiple access (CDMA) networks is proposed. This technique is based on projection approximation subspace tracking with deflation (PASTd) algorithm to improve the performance of recursive least square (RLS) algorithm based on direct matrix inverse (DMI) code-aided technique. Specifically, the performance of this technique against the type of NBI, namely, quasi-deterministic signals including sinusoidal tones and data NBI is analyzed. In this paper, signal to noise and interference rate (SINR) performance against NBI and MAI is compared with DMI RLS algorithm. It is seen that this method outperforms current DMI RLS technique. © 2011 IEEE.

Autophagy is the major intracellular degradation system by which cytoplasmic materials are delivered to and degraded in the vacuole/lysosome in eukaryotic cells. MoAtg14 in M. oryzae, a hitherto uncharacterized protein, is the highly divergent homolog of the yeast Atg14 and the mammal BARKOR. The MoATG14 deletion mutant exhibited collapse in the center of the colonies, poor conidiation and a complete loss of virulence. Significantly, the Moatg14 mutant showed delayed breakdown of glycogen, less lipid bodies, reduced turgor pressure in the appressorium and impaired conidial autophagic cell death. The autophagic process was blocked in the Moatg14 mutant, and the autophagic degradation of the marker protein GFP-MoAtg8 was interrupted. GFP-MoAtg14 co-localized with mCherry-MoAtg8 in the aerial hypha. In addition, a conserved coiled-coil domain was predicted in the N-terminal region of the MoAtg14 protein, a domain which could mediate the interaction between MoAtg14 and MoAtg6. The coiled-coil domain of the MoAtg14 protein is essential for its function in autophagy and pathogenicity.

Biological treatment of heavy crude oil production wastewater is well-established method for remediation of these wastes. We have developed effective biological treatments by (1) utilizing microbes with high oil-degrading abilities, (2) allowing greater organic loads while increasing both process stability and the resistance to shock loading, (3) minimizing the production of waste sludge byproducts, and (4) adopting anaerobic and aerobic biological processes to improve the biodegradation of the wastewater. Fixed-film bioreactors with 15h hydraulic retention times have decreased chemical oxygen demand by 74.8%, total suspended solids by 90.9%, oil by 80.6%, and phenols and sulfides by 100%. The results with an in situ pilot system show that the bioreactor's hydrolytic acidulation and contact oxidation tanks are suitable for treating oilfield wastewater, and that water quality after treatment fully meets national drainage standards. © (2013) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

Biapenem is a new parenteral carbapenem antibacterial agent with a broad spectrum of antibacterial activity. Here we reviewed determination methods of its content, related substances, polymer and residual solvents in biapenem, and its pharmaceutical preparations in recent years. Furthermore, the limits of impurities in biapenem and its pharmaceutical preparations were summarized. These will provide a reference for the research of related substances in biapenem.
