The coal and gas outburst, which threatens coal mine safety production, is an extremely complex power phenomenon that occurs in the coal mine production,then coal is a kind of solid with complex porosity, then its fissures and porous structure have a great effect on the physical and mechanical properties of coal and the absorption characteristics and the flow law of coal bed methane, and fissures and porous structure in raw coal have a major impact on coal and gas outburst. The paper takes raw coal as the research object and takes pictures of porous structure on its surface with a digital camera. Then every digital photograph is divided into 1 part, 4 parts, 9 parts, 16 parts or 25 parts. CF-200P Polarized Analysis Software and Fractalfox2.0 fractal analysis software are used to analyze these divided pictures. The purpose of this paper is to investigate the best analysis method which analyzes pores and fissures of raw coal surface through normalization of parameters of each pores and fissure, which used CF-200P Polarized Analysis Software and Fractalfox2.0 fractal software. The result shows that characteristics indexes will change with the increase of the number of divided parts of an initial digital photograph. If a initial digital photograph is divided into 16 equal parts of the size 40mm × 40mm, the characteristic index will be stable. After the analysis of the 16 small pictures, it concludes that pore and cracks on the surface of raw coal have fractal characteristics and fracture development will increase with the increase of fractal dimension value.
