Nano WC-10Co-4Cr coatings and chromium plating were prepared by HVOF spraying and electroplating. The performance and service time of the coatings and plating's were investigated by means of scanning electron microscopy (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), hardness measurement, wear testing machine, electrochemical workstation, wear corrosion accelerated testing machine. The results show that the micro-hardness, wear resistance, binding strength of the coatings are much better than that of the plating's, and the coatings have high compactness, but the corrosion resistance of the WC coatings is slightly lower than that of chromium plating's but also far higher than that of the matrix, Wear and corrosion accelerated testing results show that the service life of the coatings is 5 times than that of the chromium plating's. ©, 2015, Editorial Office of Transactions of Materials and Heat Treatment.
