Hereditary periodic fever syndromes are Mendelian inherited single gene diseases which are also known as hereditary autoinflammatory syndromes, are character-ized by recurrent attacks of fever and inflammation. Familial Mediterranean Fever and Hyperimmunoglobulinemia D syndrome are prototypes and are inherited au-tosomal recessively. The diagnosis is based on clinical course, family history and is confirmed with genetic mutation analysis. We describe a 5- year-old boy who had recurrent attacks of fever, skin rash, and cervical lymphadenopathy since he was 2 years old. His genetic analysis revealed homozygous M694V and V377I for MEFV and MVK gene respectively. Due to our knowledge, this is the first report of a patient who has both HIDS and FMF clinical and genetic features. © 2015 Journal of Clinical and Analytical Medicine. All Rights Reserved. Source

Objective: The aim of this study is testing the value of H-FABP in the early diagnosis of ACS alone or with routinely used biomarkers such as myoglobin, CK-MB, and cTn I in patients who admitted to emergency department (ED) with complaint of chest pain and suspected acute coronary syndrome.Material and Methods: This prospective and cross-sectional study was performed at the Emergency Department of University hospital between June 2009 and September 2010. Patients who were admitted with chest pain within first 48 hours and suspected ACS were enrolled to the study. Blood samples were taken for CK-MB, myoglobin, cTnI and H-FABP The patients were divided into two groups (ACS and non ACS). Statistical analyse were used for relation of biomarkers with diagnosis of ACS.Results: A 66 patients were included to the study. H-FAPB values were positive in15.2% patients. When H-FABP was added to routinely used biomarkers in the diagnosis of ACS, increasing was observed in all sensitivity, specificity, PPV and NPV values. However, this increase was not stastistically significant.Conclusion: H-FABP did not provide any significant change in early diagnosis and exclusion of ACS diagnosis when used either alone or combination with routinely used biomarkers. © 2014 Makerere University, Medical School. Fluidity of alloys are typically carried out in a spiral test mould. Due to the variation of the results, several attempts have been made to optimise the test procedure. Pouring basin has been updated by addition of a stopper and using a defined quantity of melt to be poured. However, one of the discussed issues of the spiral test mould is its fixed size cavity where the liquid is transferred. Therefore, a mould was introduced by Campbell in which a single runner bar was used to feed different thickness sections. In this study, this mould design was used to investigate the effect of temperature (700°C, 725°C and 750°C) and modification (Ti grain refinement and Sr) on the fluidity of A356 alloy. The results were compared with the simulation (SolidCast) to optimise the characteristics of the alloy. Source

The asymmetric unit of the title compound, C 23H 27Cl 2N 3O, contains two crystallographically independent molecules in which the dihedral angles between the benzene rings are 70.1 (3) and 63.8 (3)°. In each molecule an intra-molecular N - H⋯O hydrogen bond generates an S(7) ring. The atoms of the propyl grouping of one molecule are disordered over two orientations with occupancies of 0.666 (6) and 0.334 (6). The crystal structure is stabilized by N - H⋯O and C - H⋯O hydrogen-bonding interactions. Source

Two uranyl complexes having the composition [UO2(L)DMSO] were synthesized using salicyl- and 3,5-dichlorosalicylaldehyde-S-propyl- thiosemicarbazones as starting materials. The S-propyl-thiosemicarbazidato structures in the complexes are N1-3,5-dichlorosalicylidene-N 4-salicylidene and N1-salicylidene-N4-3,5- dichlorosalicylidene. The stable solid complexes were characterized by means of elemental analysis, IR and 1H NMR spectroscopies, and the single crystal X-ray diffraction technique. The two complexes, with the same formula, crystallize in different space groups. In the title complexes, the uranium atom is seven-coordinated in a distorted pentagonal-bipyramidal geometry involving an ONNO donor set of the thiosemicarbazidato ligand and an oxygen atom of a DMSO molecule. The two apical positions of the pentagonal bipyramid are occupied by the two oxygen atoms of the trans-dioxouranium group. The relative orientations of the DMSO and S-propyl groups in both complexes are somewhat different due to different crystal packing.© 2010 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved. Source
