By quantum-chemical calculations at the M06-2X/aug-cc-pVTZ level of theory geometrical parameters, dipole moments, polarizabilities, first hyperpolarizabilities and relative energies of the axial and equatorial conformers in gaseous phase were determined for 1-cyano-1-silacyclohexane, 1-tert-butyl-1-silacyclohexane, 1-tert-butyl-1-cyano-1-silacyclohexane, and 1-fluoro-1-silacyclohexane. For the cyano group and fluorine atom the axial position is more preferable whereas for tert-butyl group, equatorial one. Polarizabilities of conformers are similar but optical anisotropy of equatorial conformers of C5H10SiHCN and C5H 10SiH(t-Bu) molecules is much larger than that of axial conformers. Upon substitution in nitriles of C1 atom by Si atom the hyperpolarizability is many times increased. © 2013 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.

4-(2-Hydroxyaryl)-1,2,3-thiadiazoles treated with bases decompose with nitrogen liberation and the formation of benzo[b]furan-2-thiolates. On acidifying the thiolates benzo[b]furan-2-thiols were obtained. 4-(4-and -5-Benzyloxy-2-hydroxyphenyl)-1,2,3-thiadiazoles formed analogously the corresponding benzo[b]furan-2-thiolates whose acidifying afforded polymeric compounds. © 2012 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.

O,O-Diethyl (ethoxycarbonylfuryl)methanephosphonates are formylated with ethyl formate in the presence of sodium foil at the methylene group adjacent to phosphorus atom to form sodium salts of phosphonoacetic aldehyde. When the substituents in the furan ring are remote from one another, and also in the case of 3, 4-disubstituted isomer these salts in DMSO solution exist in the carbanion form. Anions of salts of (2-ethoxycarbonylfur-3-yl)phosphonoacetic aldehyde and the isomer with the reversed location of substituents in DMSO solution take part in the dynamic equilibrium between the carbanion and the enolate form. The alkylation of all salts obtained with allyl bromide and dimethyl sulfate proceeds exclusively at the oxygen to form a mixture of Z- and E-isomers of phosphorylated vinyl ethers. © 2012 Pleiades Publishing, Ltd.
