A new method for the granulation of lipophilic substances is described using as examples an extract from the bark of Pygeum africanum (Hook. f. Kalkman) and polyextracts from leaves of Urtica dioica L. The proposed method is based on a combined process of melting and dispersion in aqueous solutions of surfactants followed by the use of the resulting dispersed solution as a binding agent for granulation. This technology is recommended for the production of solid dosage forms of drugs containing lipophilic substances. © 2010 Springer Science+Business Media, Inc.

6-Aminopenicillanic acid, ampicillin, amoxycillin, cephalexin, and 5-nitrofurfural were covalently attached to carboxymethylchitin using its hydrazide and azide. The influence of several factors on the release kinetics of lornoxicam and methyluracil from hydrophilic matrices was investigated. These included the type of prolonging polymer, its relative content, the ratio of lactose monohydrate and microcrystalline cellulose, and the composition and concentration of granulating solution. Cellulose derivatives such as hydroxyethylcellulose and sodium carboxymethylcellulose and polymers based on vinylpyrrolidone (Kollidon SR, Kollidon VA-64) were used as the polymers modifying the release. The optimum controlled-release lornoxicam tablet composition was found and contained 8 - 15% hydroxyethylcellulose and 8 - 15% Kollidon VA-64, which was added to the tablet mixture as a moisturizer, and 30 - 40% each of lactose monohydrate and microcrystalline cellulose. The resulting composition of lornoxicam tablets released evenly the active ingredient over 8 h. The degree of lornoxicam release after 4 h was 60 ± 5%; after 8 h, >95%. © 2014 Springer Science+Business Media.

The kinetic laws of the plant-raw-material extraction process in pulsating equipment using a repercolation method have been studied. The rate of the extraction process was determined as a function of the temperature, concentration of extractable compounds, and the solid phase state. Changes in the fermentative activity of Streptomyces imbricatus under the conditions of stimulated biosynthesis of imbricin with addition of a crude endoregulator to the medium were studied. The activity of the two main enzymes of the glycolysis, i. e. phos-phofructokinase and fructose-1,6-diphosphate aldolase (aldolase) was determined and the functioning of the pentozophosphate pathway was estimated by the activity of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase and NADP-specific glutamate dehydrogenase. Under the conditions of the endoregulation the increase of the imbricin production was observed when the level of the glucose catabolism either by the glycolytic pathway or by the pentozophosphate pathway was comparatively high, thus providing the antibiotic biosynthesis with the required precursors and reducing equivalents.

Aroylamidines can be obtained as salts in a reaction of the corresponding arylcarbonitriles with anhydrous ethanol in the presence of dry HCl followed by treating intermediate imidoesters with alcoholic solution of ammonia. N-Arylbenzamidines are obtained by reacting benzonitrile with arylamines in the presence of AlCl 3. The structure of arylamines and the reaction conditions signifi cantly affect the yield of the target product, and sometimes the very possibility of its preparation. © Pleiades Publishing, Ltd., 2012.
