Optical wireless communication is the potential alternative resource for the congested RF wireless spectrum. Multicarrier communication technique Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) is used in optical wireless transmission systems. To guarantee unipolarity of optical wireless transmission, Flip-OFDM is one of the promising unipolar OFDM technique developed. The key constraint in optical medium is the transmitted power due to skin and eye safety issues. Along with power efficient modulation technique like Flip-OFDM, the transmitted optical power can be further reduced by using error control coding. In this paper, Flip-OFDM is combined with forward error correction to provide significant improvement in system performance in terms of reduced error probability. The uncoded and channel coded Flip-OFDM is compared. Coded Flip-OFDM with QAM (quadrature amplitude modulation) offers coding gain of 4.2dB for BER of 10-4. © 2016 IEEE.

Microstrip filters play an important role in wireless or mobile communication systems. In this paper, the method is proposed to model an equivalent structure of DGS in microstrip filters. Once the equation for generating equivalent structure of DGS unit has been modeled, there is no need of calculation of intermediate frequency for deriving an equivalent structure. And for any value of dimensions of DGS, one can get its corresponding equivalent structure. Thus, the process of deriving an equivalent structure of DGS becomes simple and less time consuming. Simulation is done using ADS simulation tool. The statistical analysis of the modeled structure shows that there is 37% change in L values of equivalent structure for 20 mil change in width (b) of rectangular area of DGS and 96% change in C values for 10 mil change in gap (g) of DGS.

The proposed work deals with the design of an antenna which can be used for most of the wireless applications by reconfiguring and tuning the antenna. The antenna can be used for various combinations of wireless applications such as Wi-Fi, Wi-Max, 3G within a microwave L, S, C and X frequency bands in Electromagnetic Spectrum. Now days, different antennas are preferred/devised for different wireless applications. The increased complexity and the size of the device are the major issues. Using proposed technique, the selection of frequency band in communication systems can be conveniently served by only one antenna. In this work rectangular patch is designed with U-shape slotted antenna using ADS software and pin diodes are used for reconfiguration i.e. to select different frequency band depending upon wireless application. The main advantage of this design is that it is having low profile, light weight, and easy to fabricate. © 2016 IEEE.

The main requirement of compression system in multimedia applications with large image size (more than or equal to 512×512 pixels) is high compression ratio with acceptable visual quality. Fractal image coding is one of the alternatives for high compression rate but due to exhaustive encoding time, it has limited practical applications. In this paper, wavelet transform based fast fractal image coding is proposed. FFT based fractal image coding with variable quadtree partition is applied to the approximation subband and three detail subbands of the wavelet transformed image. Quadtree partitioned wavelet subtree is constructed after wavelet decomposition of fractal decoded approximation subband image. The self similarities existing in wavelet subtree are exploited by predicting the coefficients at finer scale from those at coarser scale using affine transformation. The proposed method improves the visual quality of the decoded image at very low bit rate and achieves average 92% reduction of coding time compared to the pure fast fractal image coding. Results also show that the JPEG based compressed image PSNR value reduced by 4-5 dB when the compression ratio around 60.1-70.1. © 2014 IEEE.

Phase shifter design for system application requires consideration of many factors such as bandwidth, phase shift, insertion loss, gain variation etc. This paper focuses on the development of microstrip phase shifters using defected ground structure (DGS). DGS has the characteristics of slow wave, wide stop band and compact size. The basic concept of DGS is introduced and the parametric characterization for variety of shapes of DGS is considered. The paper also focuses on alphanumeric shapes of DGS and compares the performance of phase shifter for all possible DGS shapes. The shapes of DGS in microstroip phase shifters are investigated for optimizing their phase variation, phase shift bandwidth, insertion loss, and return loss. The objective is to reduce the size of the phase shifter. © 2012 IEEE.

Themental disorder is one of the top five reasons for the cause of death in world and suicide is the third leading cause of death among young adults worldwide. Due to the unawareness and social embarrassment, this disease is normally undiagnosed. Study says that one of every four Indians affected by anxiety disorder, out of which 10% depressed. The reasons affecting the mental health of the Indian patients need to be identified through which better cognitive behavioral therapy can be given by the psychiatrist. Data mining is a way through which Long term monitoring of the patient can be carried out by using stress monitoring test and actual reason affecting the mental health of the Indian patient can be studied via digging through and analyzing enormous sets of data and then extracting the meaning of the data such as their lifestyle, habits etc. It will also provide healthcare professionals an additional source of knowledge for making decisions. The aim of this research is to propose new approach using data mining techniques to predict the stress level of a patient using logistic model tress and to find out different factors affecting the mental health of a Indian patient in an efficiently and an economically faster manner. © 2015 IEEE.

A simple method for converting binary number to any other m-nary (m = 2k, k is an integer > 1) number is outlined. Reverse conversion from the m-nary to the original binary number which is extremely simple is also outlined. Finally, forward and reverse conversions allow converting the numbers from radix rK to radix rk, K and k are integers. These conversions are also applicable to signed numbers. The method is illustrated with several examples. Architectures for converting binary number to quaternary number which can easily be extended to higher order radices is proposed. With the help of this architecture, the method is experimentally verified. © 2014 IEEE.

E-commerce organizations are growing exponentially with time in terms of both business and data. Many organizations rely on these websites to attract new customers and retain the existing ones. In order to achieve this goal web log files can be used that records customer's access patterns. Using traditional web usage mining techniques in an enhanced manner valuable patterns and hidden knowledge can be discovered. This paper focuses on providing real time dynamic recommendation to all the visitors of the website irrespective of been registered or unregistered. Action based rational recommendation technique is proposed that makes use of lexical patterns to generate item recommendation. Effectiveness of the proposed system is evaluated by collecting real time E commerce data and comparing the system with user based and product based techniques. Results prove that the proposed system yield good quality accuracy and minimizes limitations of traditional recommendation system. © 2015 The Authors. Published by Elsevier B.V. Web services describe a way of integrating web-based applications that help in machine-To-machine interaction over the network. There are many publicly available web services and the number keeps on increasing. However this ever increasing pool makes it difficult for optimal service selection. So, appropriate selection of web service suiting the requirements of user is a non-Trivial task. Our research proposes technique which helps in optimal service selection with optimal Quality-of-Service (QoS) performance. The technique designs a recommender system based on Collaborative Filtering (CF) algorithm which employs location and QoS values to cluster users and services. The main objective of the proposed technique is to address the issue of data sparsity and scalability. The proposed approach uses k-Nearest Neighbor (kNN) algorithm with Support Vector Machine (SVM) in CF algorithm framework. SVM a state-of-The-Art classification algorithm used to address the issue of sparse data and k-NN used with CF algorithm for similarity mapping of user and services. © 2016 IEEE.

User navigation pattern discovery involves learning the user's browsing behavior pattern while he is surfing on the web. It is a technique of discovering the hidden patterns from the web server log file. The web server log files contain an entire record of the user's browsing behavior. These log files can be further analyzed to extract user's navigation patterns. Using the discovered navigation patterns, prediction of which next page the user will be visiting can be made. Such information can be further used in recommendation, personalization, e-commerce websites or web caching. The approach proposed in this paper is based on a novel approach using K-harmonic means and Frequent Pattern Growth which identifies user's behavior patterns and predicts user's future request. © 2016 IEEE.
