After ten years from its first version, the Gaudi software framework underwent many changes and improvements with a subsequent increase of the code base. Those changes were almost always introduced preserving the backward compatibility and reducing as much as possible changes in the framework itself; obsolete code has been removed only rarely. After a release of Gaudi targeted to the data taking of 2008, it has been decided to have a review of the code of the framework with the aim of a general consolidation in view of the data taking of 2009. We also decided to take the occasion to introduce those improvements never implemented because of the big impact they have on the rest of the code, and those changes of the framework needed to solve some intrinsic problems of the implementation, but never made because they were considered too disruptive. With this contribution we want to describe which are the problems we addressed and the improvements we made to the framework during this review. © 2010 IOP Publishing Ltd. Source

The present work provides the analyses of embrittlement behavior and atom probe tomography study of nano-structure evolution of VVER-440 RPV materials under irradiation and re-irradiation. Specimens from VVER-440 weld with high level of cupper (0.16 wt.%) and phosphorus (0.027-0.038 wt.%) were irradiated in surveillance channels of Rovno Nuclear Power plant unit 1 (Ro-1). A beam diagnostic is an important part of all FAIR accelerators and storage rings. A small flux of antiprotons in the collector ring CR (108 particles in a store ring) as well as dominated at first turns p-meson component of a beam require careful design for all elements of the beam position monitoring system. To increase a BPM resolution and sensitivity we propose a compact multi-electrode design of the position detector, matched low-noise electronics in connection with dedicated enhanced digital data processing algorithms. Wavelength-shifting (WLS) films were applied on UV-extended front windows of multianode photomultiplier tubes (MAPMTs) in order to increase the sensitivity of the MAPMTs at shorter wavelengths. The WLS material contained p-Terphenyl as photoactive component, which absorbs shorter wavelength photons (<300nm) and re-emits fluorescence photons around 350 nm, i.e., at the maximum of the PMTs' sensitivity. The films were applied by means of dip-coating and the film performance was studied with respect to quantum efficiency, film homogeneity, and crosstalk on the MAPMTs. Using WLS-film-covered MAPMTs in a gaseous Ring Imaging Cherenkov detector, the number of detected photoelectrons per ring increased by up to 21% in an in-beam test. © 2015 Elsevier B.V.
