The correlation between geographic distance and network delay plays an important role in network measurement. The analysis shows that the relation between distance and delay is linear. By comparing different network delay estimation methods, it is concluded that the statistical result of RTT of HTTP servers uniformly distributed in the earth should be calculated by using TCP handshake procedure. Measurement result under real condition reveals the linear relations between graphic distance and round trip delay in different areas show significant differences. Source

Network address translation detection is the key in Internet administration and security field. Based on the observation that packets from different source devices have different characteristics, a passive remote network address translation detection system (NDS) is designed. IP identification and TCP timestamp time series are established by suitable processing of the headers of trace data. The tested results in real environment on aggregated local trace data shows that NDS could effectively detect network address translation remotely and has relative high detection rate. Source

To solve the problem it is difficult to estimate the time-varying TDOA (time difference of arrival) and FDOA (frequency difference of arrival) resulted from the movement parameters of a moving target in Dual-satellites and Tri-satellites Geo-location systems. This paper focused on the joint estimation of the TDOA and FDOA of signals received from the geostationary satellites, building the expressions of the signals by analyzing characteristic of the variation of the radial distance difference, researching the influences to the envelope and carrier frequency of signals caused by the velocity and acceleration of a moving target. In the end, a novel estimation method is given which is via suppressing the influence of movement parameters and improving the performance of the CAF (Cross Ambiguity Function). The simulation results show it can eliminate the effects of movement parameters effectively and estimate the location parameters accurately. © 2012 IEEE. Source
