On the basis of Hainan island rubber distribution range extracted from high resolution satellite data and taking Hainan Island Landing Nesat typhoon 1117 as an example, the NDVI change of rubber plantations caused by the typhoon "Nesat" was analyzed using the data of FY-3A. With the help of GIS, the distribution of the rubber plantations which suffered disaster(INDVI <0) was extracted. Then, according to the grade standard of the rubber plantations typhoon disaster, the loss distribution map of the rubber plantations suffered from typhoon disaster was drawn up and the remote sensing monitoring of rubber plantations typhoon disaster was realized. Contrast analysis of the remote sensing monitoring results and the actual disaster investigation data shows that, the remote sensing monitoring results are in agreement with the disaster investigation data, remote sensing monitoring is quicker, more direct - viewing, more fine than the actual disaster investigation, which means that remote sensing monitoring of the rubber plantations typhoon disaster is feasible.
