Fertilization is an important practice in improving soil fertility by allowing an increase in the production of the PITANGUEIRA tree. In order to evaluate the yield and chemical quality of the fruits of cherry tree, in soil fertilized with humus and nitrogen, as urea, irrigated with saline water; an experiment was conducted in a PITANGUEIRA orchard planted in a spacing of 2 meters between plants and 4 meters between ranks of plants. The treatments were distributed in randomized blocks with four replications and two plant per plot, using the (5 x 2) factorial arrangement concerning five humus levels (0, 2.5, 5.0, 7.5 and 10 L plant -1) in soil without and with nitrogen, as urea (240 g plant-1) fertilized. At harvest, fruits were counted and weighed to obtain the values of production and productivity, and at the peak of the harvest hundreds of fruits were collected randomly from each plant, in complete maturation stage for chemical determinations of the following: vitamin C, acidity, and soluble solids. Fertilization with humus increased production, productivity, and chemical quality of the fruit, but with superiority in the treatments with the presence of nitrogen as urea (240 g plant-1). The best results of production and fruit quality were found in treatments with N application with 7.5 liters per plant humus.
