In this work a novel bandpass filter covering the 22 to 29 GHz frequency band is proposed by cascading a lowpass filter and a half mode substrate integrated waveguide. A 7 th order Chebyshev lowpass filter is realized to get sharp upper cutoff frequency and the HMSIW behaves like a highpass filter to achieve lower cutoff frequency of the bandpass filter. To analyze the detailed behavior of bandpass filter the equivalent transmission line model of the lowpass and highpass (HMSIW) is discussed. The frequency response obtained from EM Simulation and equivalent transmission line model are in good agreement. The fractional bandwidth of the proposed band pass filter is around 28% with center frequency at 25.5 GHz with insertion losses less than 0.5 dB and return loss better than 15 dB through the band. © 2011 ISRAMT. Bromophenol is listed as priority pollutant by U.S. EPA, however, there is no report so far on its removal in mixed pollutants system by any biological reactor operated in continuous mode. Furthermore, bromophenol along with chlorophenol and nitrophenol are usually the major constituents of paper pulp and pesticide industrial effluent. The present study investigated simultaneous biodegradation of these three pollutants with specially emphasis on substrate competition and crossed inhibition by Arthrobacter chlorophenolicus A6 in an upflow packed bed reactor (UPBR). A 23 full factorial design was employed with these pollutants at two different levels by varying their influent concentration in the range of 250-450 mg l-1. Almost complete removal of all these pollutants and 97 % effluent toxicity removal were achieved in the UPBR at a pollutant loading rate of 1707 mg l-1 day-1 or lesser. However, at higher loading rates, the reactor performance deteriorated due to transient accumulation of toxic intermediates. Statistical analysis of the results revealed a strong negative interaction of 4-CP on 4-NP biodegradation. On the other hand, interaction effect between 4-CP and 4-BP was found to be insignificant. Among these three pollutants 4-NP preferentially degraded, however, 4-CP exerted more inhibitory effect on 4-NP biodegradation. This study demonstrated the potential of A. chlorophenolicus A6 for biodegradation of 4-BP in mixed pollutants system by a flow through UPBR system. © 2014 Springer Science+Business Media Dordrecht. This paper presents the optimization of a single period inventory problem(SPIP) in particular a multi-item newsboy problem, where both fuzziness and randomness occur. Due to lack of data, the demand is subjectively determined. So demand is considered as a fuzzy random variable and the purchasing cost as a fuzzy number. The optimum order quantity and the expected profit have been obtained by using Buckley's concept of minimization of fuzzy numbers. The technique developed to transform a fuzzy single period inventory model into a crisp model and has been subjected to numerical verification. © 2015 - IOS Press and the authors. In this study, the present status and future trends of copper solvent extraction has been reviewed by focusing on the use of various types of extractants. Problems commonly encountered in the earlier investigations have been reviewed. Some new investigations for special cases of copper separation from other associated metals are also summarized. Recently developed extraction systems have also been discussed. The extraction and separation studies of copper from different sources under varying experimental conditions have been discussed. The present investigation describes interactions between Cyanex 923 and benzene/xylene at 300 K. The experimental values of molar volume, dielectric constant, refractive index, molar polarisation and molar refraction of pure Cyanex 923, benzene and xylene and their binary mixture over the entire mole fraction range have been determined. The excess parameters, Kirkwood correlation parameter, Gibb's free energy of mixing for these binary mixtures have been evaluated. The excess parameters have been tested using Redlich–Kister equation. The results indicate very weak interactions between Cyanex 923 and benzene/xylene. © 2016 Elsevier B.V. Source
