Xujiahe formation is one of the main reservoirs in Chuanxi that is characterized by interbedded shale, coal lines and glutenite, which the wellbore is unstable, especially in horizontal wells, various downhole problems are encountered. The High-density Oil-in-water drilling fluid system is developed, which the temperature resistance is 130°C and the densities are 1.60-2.20 g/cm3, moreover, the performances of rheology, inhibition, lubricity and reservoir protection are better than of polysulfonate drilling fluid. The application in well Xin8-1H is successful, compared with the well Xin10-1H, the drilling time is reduced by 35.12%, the average ROP is enhanced by 37.75%, and the average hole enlargement rate of the second and third interval are reduced by 41.43%.

The operation of deepwater drilling is under low temperature environment, so the normal drilling fluid can not be used in that condition. In this paper, a constant rheology clay-free deepwater drilling fluid system is developed. The system has constant yield value, good thixotropic property, high cuttings carrying capability and strong shear dilution performance, which is easy to form flat-plate flow. The evaluation results indicate that the mud shale recovery rate is more than 95%, the expansion ratio is less than 10%. Additionally, it has strong capabilities of anti-pollution and reservoir protection. It can not only effectively reduce the surging pressure, ECD value and mud losses but also prevent mud running out of the vibrating screen and save non-production time. Moreover, this technology overcomes the problems of stratification and barite sinking.

In block of Yuanba, the gas reservoir is buried deeply, the formation pressure and temperature are high, and CO2 fluid is found in different formations. In some offset wells, the high density drilling fluid is thickened severely after contaminated by CO2. Through laboratory experiments, the treatment technology of preventing thickening is developed to deal with the problem caused by CO2 contamination that lime water can not resolve it effectively. Moreover, after treated by that, the salt tolerance is 10%, the calcium tolerance is 1%, and the calcium formation water is up to 10%. The applications in wells of Yuanba29-1 and Yuanba101-1 are successful.

Gas drilling is one of the important methods to improve ROP in terrestrial formation in block of Yuanba, however, in the process of gas/liquid transformation, problems of wellbore instability and lost circulation are encountered frequently. The water-based wettability reversal agent can solve the problems of that in some wells, but caving reaming and lost circulation are still encountered in other wells because of the complicated situations of engineering and geology. Based on analysis of wellbore instability in the process of gas/liquid transformation, a kind of novel gas/liquid transformation technology is developed, which is composed of oil-based prepad fluid including wettability reversal agent emulsified asphalt and diesel, and lost circulation materials. Furthermore, two different transformation modes are introduced according to the situation of wellbore stability. The applications of well YB204-1H and other wells show that the oil-based prepad fluid can prevent wellbore instability and lost circulation so that it can reduce reaming time and decrease non-productive time.

According to the reservoir characteristics, the optimized formula of well completion fluid of organic acid salt with resistance of high temperature 170°c was established: HCOONa(density of 1.30 g/cm3)or HCOONa, HCOOK compound salt (density of 1.50 g/cm3 )base fluid, 0.5% modified xanthan gum adhesion promoter DHV, 2% polyanionic cellulose fluid loss agent PAC-142 with low adhesion, 1% acid corrosion inhibitor SD-2, 0.8% amphoteric ionic cleanup additive SAT, 0.2% NaOH, 0.5% Na2SO3. After standing at 160°c, the stabilization time of this organic acid salt completion fluid was 64 hrs, the viscosity reduction rate was less than 50% , API fluid loss was less than 16 mL, and HTHP fluid loss was less than 30 mL at 160°c. The average corrosion rate of P110 steel was less than 0.05 mm/a and the core permeability recovery rate was about 86.5%-88.0%. The damages to hydrocarbon reservoir by fluid in well during the test could be effectively reduced by the well completion fluid. Additionally, the underground accidents happened in the process of gas test, which caused by solid settlement and the inhibition capacity reduction of working fluid on well condition of high temperature and high pressure, could also be avoided.
