Based on CIE L∗a∗b∗ uniform color space, the Color i5 measurement instrument was used to measure the color parameters of seven blood amber samples under the D65 illuminant. In addition, the influences of lightness variation of the non-color background on the lightness, the color saturation and the hue of the blood amber were also investigated and discussed. The results show that the lightness of the blood amber is significantly enhanced with the increased lightness of the non-color background and the blood amber with higher transparency is more sensitive to the change of the non-color background; the color saturation of the blood amber increases gradually with the raise of the lightness of the non-color background, which means that the blood amber on the high-lightness background looks more bright-colored than the one on the low-lightness background; the red color hue angle range of blood amber turns out to be diffusing with the increase of the lightness of the non-color background, which means that a slight difference of the hue can be more easily discriminated on the high-brightness background. Thus, it can be concluded that the blood amber with higher transparency is much easier to be influenced by the non-color background; and the increase of the lightness of the non-color background can lead to higher lightness, more bright-colored saturation and diffused hue angle range of the blood amber; and the blood amber is more bright-colored and the color difference can be more easily discriminated on the background with higher lightness. © (2015) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland. Two unsymmetrical complexes, [NiL1]ClO4 (1) and [NiL2]ClO4 (2) have been synthesized and characterized by IR, UV, ES-MS and single crystal X-ray diffraction, where HL1 and HL2 are, respectively, the [1+1] condensation products of 2,6-diformyl-4-X-phenol (X = F or CH3) with N 1-(2- aminoethyl)-N 2-(4-nitrobenzyl) ethane-1,2-diamine. The coordination geometry of the metal in both complexes can be approximately described as square planar with a mean plane deviation of 0.032 Å in complex 1 and 0.027 Å in complex 2, respectively. The binding activities of the complexes toward calf-thymus DNA have been analyzed by spectroscopy and viscosity methods. The binding constants of 1 and 2 obtained from UV spectroscopic studies are 5.43 × 105 and 1.83 × 105 M-1, respectively, while the linear Stern-Volmer quenching constants obtained from fluorescence spectroscopic studies are 0.83 × 103 and 0.71 × 103 M-1, respectively. Placked-Burman (PB) design, path of steepest ascent (PSA), and central composite design (CCD) were used to select and optimize four factors, i.e., monomer concentration, crosslinking agent concentration, embedded amount in the media and embedding time for the conditions of bio-production of L-phenylalanine (L-Phe) by the immobilized cells of Rhodotorula glutinis CIBAS 06112-8-3 used as biocatalysts. Firstly, two key factors, the monomer concentration and embedded amount in the media, were found significant via PB method. Secondly, according to the following statistic analysis of the yield and activity of the immobilized cells of the strain, PSA was adopted to approach the optimal region. Finally, CCD design and response surface analysis were to determine the optimal levels of the main factors. Therefore, there were the optimal conditions for the immobilized cells, including monomer concentration of 16.7%, embedded amount in the media of 43%, crosslinking agent concentration of 2.0% and embedded time of 45 min, and the recovery of the immobilized cells' activity reached at 63% and increased by 31%, compared with control treatment. In addition, the yield of L-Phe increased 1.8 times with a general whole cells, i.e., a total amount of L-Phe accumulated in several batches of reactive media, reached 53.3 g/L in laboratory scale as compared with 30 g/L in pilot scale. In projector-based applications, if the laser spot of a laser pointer can be quickly and accurately tracked, the laser pointer can act as an alternative to a computer mouse, and thus a user can more conveniently interact with the computer from a distance. Presented is an efficient calibration algorithm, which is immune to both the geometry of projection surfaces and the distortion of optical lens, for laser pointer tracking. The effects of catalyst supports, like CNTs and Al2O 3, and the Ce addition on the catalytic performance of CO2 methanation were investigated. The addition of Ce could increase dispersivity of nickel species, which were reduced more easily with CNTs-supported catalyst, and the addition of Ce promoted the reduction of nickel species. Furthermore, compared with the Ni-Ce/Al2O3 catalyst, a significant improvement of catalytic performance for CO2 methanation was obtained for Ni-Ce/CNTs catalyst. © 2014 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.
