Samarium trichloride catalyzed one-pot synthesis of dihydropyrines has been developed. The methodology was successfully applied to various aldehydes. All the reactions were carried out at acetonitrile reflux.

MnCrFeO4 ferrites, where Fe3+ ions stepwise replaced by Gd3+ ions with a chemical formula MnCrGdxFe1-xO4 (x = 0.0, 0.05, 0.1 and 0.15) were synthesized by employing sol-gel auto combustion method. Crystal structure, nanocrystalline nature of particles, magnetic properties and dielectric properties were investigated by energy dispersive spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and pulse field magnetization techniques. The phase identification of the materials by XRD reveals that the materials formed in the cubic spinel phase with small amounts of GdFeO3. TEM observation shows that some of the spherical nanocrystals are transformed in needle-like shape structure upon Gd3+ substitution. Saturation magnetization and observed magnetic moment are found to increase with Gd3+ substitution for x ≤ 0.1, obeying Neel's two sublattice model and decreases thereafter, showing existence of non-collinear spin interaction that gives rise to the Yafet-Kittel (θYK) angles. Coercivity increased with the increasing doping of Gd3+ ions in Mn-Cr ferrite. Frequency dependent dielectric constant decreased with Gd3+ ions substitution, these results were discussed in the light of Maxwell-Wagner type interfacial polarization. © 2015 Elsevier B.V.

Microencapsulated-Cu(acac)2 [MC-Cu(acac)2] is found to be an efficient catalyst for the multicomponentcondensation reaction of aromatic aldehyde, ß-naphthol and amide to form the corresponding amidoalkyl naphtholsin good yield. Moreover, the catalyst could be recycled for four times without the significant loss in yield andselectivity of the product. The remarkable features of this new one pot C-C and C-N bond forming reactionprocedure are high conversations, operationally simple and eco-friendly and economically inexpensive method.

In the present work we reanalyzed the fields of magnetic materials on the instance of absence of magnetic monopoles. First we reanalyzed the field of a current carrying conductor which determines its true face as an electric field which is parallel to the wire having zero divergence and non-zero curl. The force exerted on a charged particle by this field has unique direction and does not depend on the direction of the motion of the particle. The non-zero curl of the field causes the force to be asymmetric in nature because of which a charged particle, placed in it, never moves along a straight path and follows a curved path. The study explores a basic difference between the real force and the supposed magnetic force in the fields of magnetic materials suggesting that there is no magnetic field which we have been considering. The real force in fields of all magnetic materials is electric and exerts in terms of field-field interaction. Experimental evidences for the same are reported. The interaction between poles of bar magnets, the induction of emf and Lenz's law are explained on the basis of curled electric fields. © (2012) Trans Tech Publications, Switzerland.

The low temperature synthesis of Al-Cr substituted MgFe2O 4 ferrite system have been carried out using chemical co-precipitation technique at 60°C. The nanocrystallites of MgAl XCrXFe2-2XO4 ferrite system were characterized by X-ray diffraction technique. The X-ray diffractometer (XRD) showed the formation of single phase cubic spinel structure. Energy dispersive analysis of X-rays (EDAX) showed the composition close to stichiometry of Al-Cr substituted MgFe2O4. The most intense peak (311) of XRD patterns was used to calculate crystallite size of the samples and the crystallite size was found to be about 30 nm. The cation distribution which depends on the method of preparation and chemical composition has been determined by using XRD method. The saturation magnetization and magneton number obtained from hysteresis loop technique decreases as Al-Cr content x increases. The decrease in magnetic behavior is attributed to decrease in A-B interaction. © 2011 American Institute of Physics.

Costus pictus a valuable medicinally important 'insulin plant' cultivated in garden as an ornamental belongs to the family Costaceae. During present investigation Micropropagation studies in Costus have been tried using different growth hormones viz. BAP, KIN, IBA, IAA, and NAA. Nodal part of stem was tried and proven suitable for Micropropagation as compare to rhizome, rhizomatic eye, and apical shoot. Suitable combinations of growth regulators recorded for Micropropagation were 2.7 mg/L BAP, 0.2 mg/L IAA from the nodal region. Hence present findings provide the standard in vitro protocol for Costus pictus.

We have investigated motion of a charged particle in static parallel electric field. The field is parallel to a straight line having zero divergence and non-zero curl. It applies asymmetric electric force on the charged particle forcing the particle to follow a curved path. The path is determined by the initial velocity of the particle in addition to the field properties, like in magnetic fields. This resemblance implies that the straight long conductor carrying steady electric current might produce a parallel electric field in opposite direction of the current. It further implies that the true face of static magnetic force can be a static asymmetric electric force and the true face of static magnetic field can be a static curled electric field. Thus, the parallel electric field produced by the long straight conductor can be used to accelerate charged particles and hence to build a current accelerator. © 2013 AIP Publishing LLC.
