The present invention provides a water-in-oil emulsion solid cosmetic that is further improved in terms of an excellent feeling in use (good spreadability and fresh feeling (texture)) obtained by incorporating a powder in a water phase, and that also has sufficient covering ability, stability even at high temperature, and long-lasting property. The present invention provides a water-in-oil emulsion solid cosmetic comprising an external oil phase comprising a liquid oil thickened or solidified with (A) wax and (B) disteardimonium hectorite, and an internal water phase comprising (C) an internal phase powder dispersed in an aqueous medium.

The purpose of the present invention is to develop a method for screening drugs having the effect of increasing skin barrier function in in vitro studies and to evaluate barrier function in the skin. Candidate drugs can be screened by using the activity and/or expression level of serine racemase as an indicator.

The present application provides an oil-in-water type emulsified cosmetic which has the effect of beautifying the appearance of skin and also excels in emulsion stability. The oil-in-water type emulsified cosmetic according to the present invention is characterized by comprising (A) 1 to 20 mass% of a hydrophobized titanium oxide having an average particle size of at least 0.1 m; (B) a sugar ester having a carboxyl group within the structure; (C) a liquid higher fatty acid; (D) a higher alcohol; (E) a non-ionic surfactant; (F) water; and (G) an oil component.

The present invention addresses the problem of providing a novel method for the pretreatment of a biological sample containing lenalidomide enantiomer and thereby establishing a simple and accurate method for the quantitative analysis of lenalidomide enantiomer. In the present invention, the racemization and decomposition of lenalidomide enantiomer in a biological sample can be prevented by the deproteinization under acidic conditions of the biological sample containing lenalidomide enantiomer, and the lenalidomide enantiomer can be simply and accurately quantitatively analyzed by subjecting to HPLC the biological sample that has been pretreated in such a way.

An oil-in-water type emulsified cosmetic and a method of making can be prepared in a system not containing a silicone and is surprising produced without a wet-type dispersion apparatus by using a specific combination of the oil component constituting the oily phase and a hydrophobizing agent for a hydrophobized powder. The composition includes an aqueous phase; an oily phase dispersed in the aqueous phase; and a powder dispersed in the oily phase. The oily phase comprises (a) volatile hydrocarbon oil and (b) non-volatile hydrocarbon oil in a combined amount of 40% by mass or more with respect to the total oil content, wherein the blending ratio of (b) non-volatile hydrocarbon oil to (a) volatile hydrocarbon oil, [(b)/(a)], is within a range of 0 to 2.5, and the powder comprises a powder having a surface hydrophobized by a treatment with a metallic soap consisting of a higher fatty acid and a divalent metal or a composite treatment with a higher fatty acid and a divalent metal hydroxide.
