Investment casting 3Cr13 valve plate with cutting-free was conducted though using silica sol as the binder and middle-temperature wax pattern, which required the valve plate and the sealing surface without any defect and not to use the welding repair grinding method to repair the seal surface. In the trial production process, there exists the size deviation, beans, pitting surface. Through strictly controlling the investment process parameters and the workshop environment temperature, low temperature treatment for shell before dewaxing, controlling shell baking and pouring temperature, dimension of valve plate size met tolerance range. Beans were eliminated by breathing at the first stuccoing and pre-wetting at the second stuccoing. Through lighting wood to cover tin bucket to realize the casting solidification in reducing atmosphere, the pitting surface was eliminated. Source

Casting defects such as distortion and cold lap occurred in the castings when large-scale rectangular valve plates were manufactured by using of sand casting process. The numerical simulation was carried out by using ANSYS software. With the wax acting as metal, vermiculite acting as sand and vaseline as adhesive, process simulation experiment was done to solve the above casting defects, shorten trial manufacture time and decrease cost. After the process parameters of the simulation experiment were applied to the practice production, distortion defect of the casting was solved. The cold lap was removed by using of properly tilting pouring method. Finally, the large-scale rectangular valve plates were produced successfully. Source

To solve the casting shrinkage hole especially hot spot away from riser shrinkage, it is an effective way to design riser subsidies. However, the riser subsidies not only increases the metal liquid weight but also decrease mechanical properties. In addition, removal of riser subsidies can deteriorate casting surface quality and waste a lot of time as well as difficult to design riser subsidies on some parts. Through experiment, rockwool subsidies instead of riser subsidies for shell of nut exhibits acceptable effects, which decreased keyhole rejects from 100% to 4% and the shrinkage rate of waste from 28% to 0. The bottom burning and side fired type coal-fired calcining furnace for investment casting shell mold was researched. The research results show that comparing with the side fired type furnace, the bottom burning furnace can save the coal 24%, the dust deposition in furnace tank is less, dust content of outlet furnace gas is low, and the cost is saved by 35%; the reformation from coal-fired furnace to gas furnace is very convenient for bottom burning furnace, the cost is 1/2 of the reformed cost of side fired furnace.
