In order to reduce the influence of bus stop location on traffic flow in the surrounding road at intersection and provide reference for planning and designing of intersection and surrounding affiliated facilities, bus parking behavior, running behavior, lane changing behavior and some intersection parameters, such as saturation, green ratio and signal cycle were analyzed respectively based on the traffic flow cellular automaton model. Combining the setting principles of cellular automaton model, sub-models were built in terms of vehicle, intersection plane, stops, etc. Then, a new research model for selecting bus stop location at intersection was got. The model was simulated by MATLAB, and exported the travelling-time of social vehicles which affected by bus as simulation results. The reliability of the model was verified through the comparison between the simulation results and the actual investigating situation. The result shows that the established model is realistic, which can reflect the actual stop situation of bus at intersection. The relationship between the bus stops impact degree on the traffic and the distance from the intersection to bus stop presents change trends of “W” type. The effects of the bus bay stops on the surrounding vehicles and intersection are less than those of linear stops. At upstream, the recommended setting section is 70-110 m away from the intersection and 60-90 m is suggested for the downstream. The set range of stops has big difference under different saturations, so analysis of it needs to be refined in practical application. © 2017, Editorial Department of China Journal of Highway and Transport. Understanding the characteristics of intra-urban trips is essential to get a deep insight of the dynamic aspects of urban system and to make urban planning. We explore the spatiotemporal patterns of human intra-urban trips using metro smartcard records of Shenzhen city. Through statistics of millions of smartcard records, we found that the intra-urban trips: (a) have two significant peak hours over day; (b) are different between weekday and weekend; and (c) have significant periodicity. The temporal patterns owe to the living and working habit of the inhabitants. The result also shows that passengers' volumes, as well as the spatiotemporal patterns, are various for different stations, due to the land uses around stations. The method shows that metro smartcard records provide a powerful approach to understanding the dynamic of urban system. © 2012 IEEE.

Most previous works on urban traffic efficiency focused on the optimization of signal timings, assuming vehicle speed was fixed or followed a giving distribution. In this paper, based on the two way communication between vehicles and signal controller in Connected Vehicle (CV) environment, we developed two vehicle speed guidance methods to decrease delay and number of stops at intersections. By using Visual Basic and VISSIM COM interface, the simulation model consists of three modules: the signal timing, the vehicle speed guidance, and the dynamic optimization. A field intersection of Cao’an Road and Lvyuan Road in Shanghai is employed for simulation tests. Compared with the simulation results optimized by classical signal control method, the proposed methods can significantly decrease delays and number of stops, and improve the efficiency of traffic control. © 2015, Vienna University of Technology. To explore the distribution characters of dynamic parking demands, an analysis method of clustering non-parameter tests is proposed. Multi-period random variables are aggregated according to the sequence of single, group, cluster, and relative non-parameter tests are used during different aggregation phases to validate results, with an aim to obtain models of proper amount to describe dynamic random variables' distribution character and assure the fitting precision simultaneously. Based on the method, the research process of dynamic parking demands' distribution character is introduced from four aspects such as definition of the problem, collection of data, treatment and analysis of data, and conclusion of the distribution characters. The New World Center in Nanjing is taken as a case study. The dynamic parking demands' distribution characters of the accessory parking lot during workday is effectively explored and the variation of the distribution characters is concluded based on the acquired ten Poisson distribution models and seven Gamma distribution models.

From studying the status quo of transport carbon dioxide emissions charges and congestion pricing at home and abroad, this paper analyzes the characteristics of the urban transport carbon dioxide emissions, based on the summary of domestic and international carbon tax standard, it establishes a model of urban transport carbon emissions charges. Considering carbon emission costs as one part of the generalized travel costs, thereby a congestion pricing bilevel programming model is established. Then it selects the actual case to verify the rationality and feasibility of the model, and also put forward reasonable proposals for China's urban traffic congestion pricing.

The calculation procedure includes the collection of traffic data, conversion of traffic volume, calculation of the number of queuing vehicles and the average queuing length. A real example is then given to make a comparison with the existing method. The computational result shows that the method discussed in this paper is more reasonable and the resulted length accords with the practical requirements.

The considered factors of current parking generation rate method are single and the current parking generation rate method ignores the differences of land berths generates between different locations and different land development intensity in planning area. So the current parking generation rate cannot predict the actual parking demand distribution very well. The actual survey found that the parking demand was closed linked with land development intensity, vehicle population, parking fees and other factors. So here considered the land development intensity, location dominance and other factors as the correction parameters of parking generation rate, differentiated correct the parking generation rates in the same land use, different regions and different land development intensities which made the parking generation rate forecast model more accurate. Finally, a case study had made to validate the operability of the predictive model.

Xi'an, as a typical inland city in China with a worse integrated transport system, has promoted the use of metro service to ease serious traffic congestion. This paper uses a logistic regression model to examine mode shifts behavior for auto, taxi, bus, electric bicycle, and bicycle users after the implementation of metro service based on stated preference data. The results indicate that auto travelers located in suburban regions are more willing to shift to metro for work trips. Female taxi and auto users are more likely to use metro than males. Longer trips for taxi and electric bicycle travelers prefer to choose the newly introduced metro. Additionally, a preference survey on newly opened metro concluded that metro passengers that shift from auto mode may decrease 8 to 19% because of incomplete transfer facilities. Finally, it was found that the impacts on easing traffic congestion by a single metro corridor are not significant, and some parallel policies need to be adopted. Furthermore, these findings are more useful for developing cities lacking modal joint and integration. © 2013 American Society of Civil Engineers.

The equations describing the relationship of phase difference adjustment quantities were established for intersection before and after transition. Considering the allowable range of each intersection's signal cycle length in transition period, the single-cycle symmetrical adjustment transition algorithm and the N-cycle weighted adjustment transition algorithm were proposed based on the minimax principle of offset adjustment ratio. Analysis result shows that when the symmetrical adjustment transition algorithm is finished in one cycle, and the actual maximum adjustment of intersection phase difference is minimized. The weighted adjustment transition algorithm comprehensively consider the allowable range of each intersection's transition signal cycle, and can make a coordinated control scheme rapidly and smoothly transit to a new coordinated control scheme after N transition signal cycles based on the minimum requirement of the maximum adjustment ratio of phase difference. Compared with other transition algorithms, the global optimization of phase difference adjustment for all intersections in control area can be realized by the weighted adjustment transition algorithm, which better satisfy the control demands of different signal intersections, so the weighted adjustment transition algorithm is more practical and has a broader application scope.
