Based on the example of foundation pit support of Taikoo Shing in Shenzhen, a set of design method is introduced. The difficult problem to control shifting sand and fluid mud during excavation of foundation pits with higher water content and lower c and φ. The project employs the combination of slopes and drilling piles and sealing piles and prestressed anchorage cables. The support of foundation pits in soft soils in coastal areas is effectively solved. By means of in-situ monitoring a conclusion is drawn that the excavation deformation and settlement meet standard and design requirements. It provides guidance for similar projects. Source
