The sodium silicate inorganic binder is a pollution-free binder of mold and core sand. In recent years, the hardening theory and application practice for sodium silicate bonded sand have made a significant development. The development course of sodium silicate inorganic binder applied to the foundry production over half a century was reviewed briefly in this paper, and the great success achieved in the application of automobile and rolling stock casting was emphatically introduced. The characters of "quake" and "vibrate" in Chinese scientific literatures were investigated and analyzed. The key words including the two characters were searched respectively, which include vibrating screen, compacting table. The results show that the numbers of the scientific literatures using the two characters are almost equal before 1980; but after 1980 the literatures using the character of "vibrate" increase gradually. Technical personnel prefer using "vibrate" to "quake" in the literatures relevant to mechanical vibration. As tongjia characters, they can interchange in some circumstance, in which they are no correct or mistake. But author think that it is necessary to distinguish the two characters when they were used as scientific term. For example, using "vibration" in the phrase of "mechanical vibration" instead of "quaking"; there is no doubt about using "quake" in the field of earth quake and blast. Questions relevant to the use of "quaking" were put forward about the national standard of "Foundry Terminology". It is more reasonable to use the "vibrate" in the equipments relevant to mechanical vibration, which is in accordance with the result of literatures searching. Source

The sealing body materials under service conditions were easily led to seal failure by wear, corrosion damage. The preparation of wear resistant coating of the seal body system can effectively improve the wear resistance of the sealing body. In this paper, 40Cr steel is selected as the sealing body base material, WC ceramic and Ni60+WC ceramic coating material have been prepared by plasma spraying. The thickness and hardness of the coating were tested, and two body abrasion tests were carried out on the substrate material and the coating materials. Analysis of the coating and substrate interface bonding properties and wear resistant mechanism of test material were done. The results show that there have high surface hardness of WC and Ni60+WC coatings, and the coating thickness all are more than 1 000 µm, interface bonding with the matrix are good. Compared with matrix 40Cr, two kinds of coatings on a pin-on-disk wear testing because of the high hardness of WC ceramics show good wear resistance, abrasion wear resistance of WC coating is 1.9 times than that of 40Cr matrix, Ni60+WC coating wear resistance is 2.5 times of 40Cr matrix.
