Wollastonite was inorganic modificated by coating aluminium silicate with heterogeneous deposition method.SEM, XRD, FTIR, BET surface area analyzer were used to characterize the product. XRD result shows that wollastonite is coated with nano-aluminium silicate. BET result shows that the specific surface area of particles increases by 200%. FTIR result shows that the content of OH group increases. Whiteness test shows that the whiteness increases by 2.0. Application test shows that the polypropelyne(PP) products filled with inorganic modificated powder have superior physical properties or mechanical properties(tensile strength 20.45Mpa, bending strength 38.02Mpa) than that with uncoated wollastonite and pure PP and the heat distortion temperature increases by 28.6°C than pure PP. Scanning electron microscope (SEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), Fourier transform infrared spectrum(FT-IR) and BET surface area analysis were used and the results show wollastonite is coated with nano-aluminium silicate, The specific surface area of particles increases by 200%. The content of OH group increases. The whiteness increases by 2.0. The PP products filled with inorganic modified powder have superior chemical properties(tensile strength 20.45 MPa, bending strength 38.02 MPa) than that with uncoated wollastonite and pure PP and the heat distortion temperature increases by 28.6°C than pure PP. Taking wollastonite as raw material, aluminium sulfate and water glass as coating modifier, a new type of wollastonite coated with nano-aluminium silicate powder-materials was obtained by chemical depositing method. By modificating this powder-materials with silane and filling it in PA6, the PA6 composite materials were obtained. The modificated powder-materials were characterized by SEM, BET, XRD, EDX, and FT-IR. The mechanism of this powder-materials modificated by silane was discussed. It was shown that the surface of wollastonite was coated with nano-aluminium silicate evenly, the average grain size of aluminium silicate was 54 nm, filling 30% of this powder-materials modified by silane in PA6, the mechanical properties and the heat distortion temperature of the PA6 composites filled by it were notably enhanced. © 2010 World Scientific Publishing Company.
