By its application environments and structure features, offshore wind power's foundation design covers three major fields, i.e. foundation, structure and offshore engineering. This paper presents some standards and specifications for each field, and points out some of the existing design issues. We also discuss the six key technologies-foundation type selection, pile design, structure modal analysis, wave force calculation, structure fatigue analysis and construction steps, and provide the corresponding technical resolution and research methods. The lateral displacement of retaining structures can be decomposed into four basic modes. For each deflection mode, distribution form of ground surface can be gotten respectively. The total ground surface settlement due to excavation is the summation of those four surface vertical displacements. The analysis process is called Qimstar curve analysis method. It introduces two parameters, settlement factor and position modified coefficient, for practical usage to accumulate experience. Software JK3E, which is developed to analyze environmental effect of excavation of foundation pits, includes five parts, with is parameter setting, construction steps definition, surrounding environment circumstance, soil parameters input and calculation module. The environmental circumstance analyzed with JK3E includes building of shallow foundations or pile foundations, tunnels or subways, underground pipelines and nearby loads of pits. Three analysis methods are provided in software JK3E, finite analysis method, Qimstar curve analysis method and method given in Shanghai technical code for excavation engineering. By use of the finite element methods in the software all parameters of both soil and interface are calculated or back-analyzed based on geotechnical investigation reports. Three engineering examples show that it is convenient and good way to accumulate analysis experience. Source

Statistical data show that more than 65% of offshore wind turbines select monopile foundation, so design and analysis of the monopile foundation are an important issue. Based on the design practice and experience of multiple offshore wind farms, the design elements of the monopile foundation are summarized. Determined by the offshore marine environment in which the wind turbines are located, the primary load on the monopile foundation is long-term cyclic load. After summarizing the methods for current laterally loaded piles, an ideal elastic-plastic pile-soil interaction model considering the effect of long-term cyclic load is established. In the case of an offshore wind farm, a monopile foundation program is designed using the above model, and comparative analyses are carried out to verify its effectiveness. The ideal elastic-plastic method is convenient to consider the effect of all the environmental loads, soil distribution and construction, and can be applied to the design of pile foundation offshore wind turbines. In order to study the model of high-pile cap foundation, solid element model, shell element model and pipe and shell element model are established by means of the finite element software ANSYS.12 natural frequencies of the high-pile cap foundation are obtained. The calculated results show that the frequencies of the three models are very close, so different units will not affect the modal analysis. The method adopting the pipe and shell model, compared with other two kinds of modeling methods, has the advantage of fewer units and simpler model, so it should be firstly considered in the modal analysis of high-pile cap foundation. Estimation method of ground settlement and analysis software for environmental effect of excavation, JK3E, developed by Shanghai Tongji Qimstar Science & development Co., Ltd., are briefly introduced. Based on the analysis software JK3E, two coefficients, settlement modified coefficient γ and position modified coefficient η in the Tongji Qimstar curve analysis method for the estimation method of ground settlement, are studied through 5 projects under 6 conditions. Studies show that the settlement modified coefficient γ should be 0.90 to 1.25, and the position modified coefficient η should be 0.20 to 0.50. The research results make a great contribution to the application of the software JK3E in the excavation engineering in Shanghai, especially in the selection of the coefficient value, moreover, to the accumulation of engineering experience.
