An efficient one-pot procedure for the direct catalytic synthesis of substituted 2-aminothiophenes catalyzed by l-proline under mild reaction conditions has been developed. A variety of functionalized 2-aminothiophene scaffolds were assembled in high yields by this catalytic protocol. Low catalyst loading, simple procedure, and high yields are the important attributes of this methodology. © 2010 Georg Thieme Verlag Stuttgart New York.

A novel composite nanofiltration (NF) membrane was prepared by interfacial polymerization of 2,2′-bis(1-hydroxyl-1-trifluoromethyl-2,2,2-trifluoroethyl)-4,4′-methylenedianiline (BHTTM) and trimesoyl chloride (TMC) on polyethersulfone (PES) supporting membrane. Different preparation conditions and NF membrane performances were discussed. The membrane structures of composite NF membranes were characterized by attenuated total reflectance infrared (ATR-IR), scanning electron microscope (SEM), and atomic force microscopy (AFM). The results showed that the NF membrane prepared under the optimum condition exhibited Na2SO4 rejection of 85.3% and the water flux of 10.1 l.m-2.h-1. The NF membrane was treated by 5000 ppm chlorine solution for 1 h. The salt rejection and water flux of the treated membrane reached to 94.5% and 94.8 l.m-2.h-1. The rejection of two NF membranes for inorganic electrolyte solutions decreased in the order of Na2SO4, MgSO4, MgCl2, and NaCl, which were typical characteristics of negatively charged membranes. © 2013 Copyright Taylor and Francis Group, LLC.

Tetraheterocyclic tetrahydroindeno[1′,2′:4,5]pyrrolo[1,2-a]imidazol-5(1H)-one derivatives as novel neonicotinoid candidates were designed and prepared by selective etherification, chlorination and esterification of ninhydrin-heterocyclic ketene aminals adducts. Some of the designed compounds showed excellent insecticidal activity against cowpea aphids (Aphis craccivora), brown planthopper (Nilaparvata lugens), and armyworm (Mythimna separata). In particular, the activity against armyworm (Mythimna separata) improved a lot in contrast with that of imidacloprid and cycloxaprid. The research here provides a novel neonicotinoid chemotype for further development. © 2015 American Chemical Society.

An efficient and convenient synthetic route was developed to prepare the tricycle diterpene intermediates 1-3 starting from commercially available (-)-sclareol. This improved approach involving four-step reactions provides large-scale (30-40 g) methyl ent-isocopalate in 61% overall yield, which could supply sufficient material for the synthesis of marine natural products containing tricyclic diterpenes. © 2010 Elsevier Ltd. Treatment of halogen-heteroaromatic aldehydes with catalytic amount of PdCl 2 under atmosphere pressure of hydrogen in base medium (sodium acetate) leads to the corresponding dehalogenated primary alcohols. The reaction system was especially effective for the heteroaromatic compounds bearing aldehyde groups and halides (bromo- or chloro-functions). © 2012 Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserved.
