For passenger cars and light duty commercial vehicles in Chinese market using the 3rd generation of BOSCH common rail systems, which missing fire suddenly in some operation conditions and usually difficult to cold start and lack of power output in alpine and plateau regions, theory analysis and experiment research were carried out. The results show that the system has inherent defect because when using gear fuel pump, most of the low pressure section in fuel system actually works in negative pressure. When the diesel filter works in negative pressure, the gas and the fuel will be separated so the filter will full of gas which is the main reason to cause above problems. The main solution is to design a suitable device to release the gas in the filter.
