Ordinarily, water fire monitor extinguishing systems are applied to protect large space places from fire. To intellectualize them and improve the water usability and extinguishing efficiency, it is necessary to realize the closed-loop control of the landing position of the water jet out from the monitors in order to let the water jet reach the fire point as fast as possible. According to the characteristics of the adjusting mechanism of fire monitors, combing with the new theoretical model for their water jet track, the closed-loop control procedure is simulated. The results show that the water jet can reach the ignition point after only several adjustments. The effective control procedure simulation paves a sound basis for the closed-loop control of the landing position of the water jet out from water fire monitors. © (2010) Trans Tech Publications.

Based on a combination of phase - space reconstruction of nonlinear dynamics with independent component analysis (ICA), a fire time series forecasting model was proposed by using support vector regression. The phase space of fire time series was reconstructed with the time delay and ICA, and then nonlinear support vector regression was used to construct the forecasting model, simulation results show that the proposed model can improve the fire time series forecasting accuracy.

We presented a facile method for the preparation of a portable detection column integrated with silver nanoparticle (Ag NP) functionalized glass fibers for surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS). Ag NPs were immobilized onto the surface of fibers through a two-step self-assembly process, and the cycling of the assembly process was repeated to optimize the SERS activity. The optimized fibers coated with homogeneous and dense Ag NPs were combined with a glass column, displaying good reproducibility. This combination could construct more "hot spots" and the spatial intra-channel structure for high mass transfer, and provide more sufficient interactions between the probing laser and metallic nanoparticles. The capability of the prepared column to have high sensitivity to dyes was demonstrated by the measurements of rhodamine 6G, alizarin red and methyl orange, with low concentrations of 28 pM, 64 pM and 0.36 nM, respectively. The SERS-active column fabricated by a facile, low-cost and high-yield approach is expected to be an effective and practical means for on-site application when rapid separation and detection of analytes in the liquid sample is needed. © 2015 The Royal Society of Chemistry.

Under certain conditions, the screen doors of the platform can affect smoke spread and evacuation in a subway fire. The physical model and mathematical model were established by taking a real subway station as an example. And the smoke spread in a train fire was simulated by using CFD method. Effect of four open ways of screen doors on fire smoke and evacuation were analyzed. The research can provide a theoretical basis and technical support for the emergency evacuation plan and performance-based design of the subway. © 2011 Published by Elsevier Ltd.

Fire engine is typical fire-fighting equipment, which also reflects the capacity of fire fighting. In this paper, the influence of fire engines on fire risk is analyzed qualitatively. Based on fire cases, the relationship model of quantitative property loss damaged by fire and the total number of fire engines needed to be dispatched is proposed, which could provide some reference and basis for the fire department to carry out fire-fighting equipment planning and preparatory scheme compilation. © 2012 The Authors. A 20-storey fire-occurred residential building in Japanese Hiroshima was taken as an example in the paper. The smoke movement and smoke temperature field in high-rise building fires were analyzed by numerical simulation. And the influence of fire smoke on the availability of using elevator for evacuation was discussed. Finally some effective suggestions were put forward. © 2012 The Authors. Derive the fire extinguishing coefficient from small fire extinguishing test, verify the accuracy and reliability of the model by exhaustive fire extinguishing test. This paper analyzes the significance of the flame supervision control system during safe operation. The infrared flame monitor equipment is designed for boiler. The principle and structure of infrared flame detecting equipment and the signal process method are introduced. The infrared frequency of the flame is gathered and analyzed. Compare the results of variance and adaptive filtering method respectively and find out the better method to identify whether the flame exists and to judge the intensity of the flame. The burner flame measurement and detection experiments are made in oil field. The results manifest that the system is simple and convenient, and it can detect single burner flame online and has market value.
